it's pretty annoying that my wifi gets cutoff from time to time and the phone just switches to GPRS mode and my sim card gets charges 1 dollar everytime it is connected. I've been charged for 16bucks so far.

is there a way to turn off GPRS and just use wifi so that when wifi gets cutoff the phone will just show error retrieving the data?

yes - just go to settings > general > network > cellular data network, and delete all the info there.

I just bought my iPhone 3G today and updated to 2.0.2 and also have the same settings like you do..No extra options.

this is going crazy!!!! my router crashed when i was sleeping and my iphone then used my vodafone GPRS to continue surf the net( and i didn't even know which program was accessing the internet)

and over a whole night, my pre-charged 90bucks were all gone!!!

90bucks just for 7.5MB of data......i had to keep my iphone off until i can find a solution to disable my GPRS or turn it on when needed.....:mad::mad::mad:

BTW, is there a way to change my firmware back to 2.0.1?so that i can clear the cellular setting?thanks

I think your best bet is to Jailbreak your iPhone. Once you've done that, there are hacks/tools to fix the problem you're having. (i.e. you can get to the screen that Phil A posted above ... from what I've read, anyway. I've never JB'd mine before).

I haven't seen a way to turn off data on a "stock" iPhone unless you're roaming.
