My friend IM'ed me the other day, and told me about this Mac Community thingy called net4mac. I signed up, but there is hardly ever anyone online, even though there are nearly 12,000 users.
Do any of you MR users use net4mac? If so, what has been your experience with it so far? Do you think it is even worth using?
It isn't any competition to MR obviously, but I think it may be a worthwhile thing. Maybe MR could pick up some of its social networking/common interest search capabilities. idk
And yes, I searched MR for net4mac before posting this, and there was 1 post, but it was over 2 years old, so I figured I'd post a new thread about it.:apple:

Thanks for your replies,
Those of you who register on there as a result of this thread, email me through net4mac, feel free to add me to your friends list, or whatever. I would just like to see this thing take off, it looks like a winner, although it definitely could use some development.
BTW - I am not affiliated with net4mac, I just started using it the other day.:apple:

It has potential, and surely beats a website, IMO. I just signed up and created a Chicago group.
Only 5 users online though?

Wow, it is so Mac based that the pages only render correctly in Safari, not Firefox.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)
I think I'll wait a while before I buy the app. There's just not enough people on it to make it worthwhile. Hopefully more will find out about through the iPhone. It's a really great idea and a really good app just needs more members.

Beat me to it. Just got the email about it this morning. Hopefully making it an iPhone app will increase its popularity, and people will be on more often.:apple:

I signed up a couple weeks ago to Net4Mac, its a great idea although it does need to be better marketed considering most Mac users don't know about it. I'm sure its appearance on the Appstore will have more people inquiring, but I use the Net4Mac app and while it is worth $1.99 it definitely needs more features.

totally agree, it's a fantastic idea but for what ever reason it hasn't taken off!
Looks fantastic! Just downloaded it and signed up, you can tell that there aren't that many users by the fact that I was able to get "MST" as my username and not "MST_376493854573" or some other ridiculous combination.
I agree with unfrozen.jon about the lack of marketing but as others have said hopefully the introduction of the iPhone app should help.
Feel free to add me!

Umm, no, there is no support for Firefox. But the thing is, it is not a web service, it is a program download that runs on your desktop.

I got an email a few days ago saying they had finished with net4mac and have a new site up and running http://www.maczoom.com/
it looks pretty nice but once again lacks users, I think this could really take off if they get some members!!

so will this thread be revived again in 2 years? and then we'll find out, maczoom.com is gone and the new domain name is macfaster.com? :p
maybe it is just me, but i am not really into this social networking thing...
maybe i am not trying hard enough to understand the point of it...

it should have been nothing more than a Mac enthusiast website. A social networking community for a small fraction of this world's computer users... only? Sure, people will sign up out of curiosity... but abandon their other S.N. utilities? Don't think so.
