put a 1Gig stick of RAM in my 1 Ghz PBook. It says it only supports up to 1 Gig total, but that was before there were ever 1 GIG chips out.
The PBook has 512 in it now, do you think that I can get it to 1.5 Gigs or would it just not recognize the chip?

when i bought my 867 12" PowerBook it said that the max RAM was 640 mb because of the same reason. in actuality the machine is capable of using up to 4 gigs of RAM. i still haven't seen any 1 gig chips that are affordable yet.

From what I understand only the new aluminum powerbooks can use more than 1gb of ram(2gb max)
The titanium was capped at 1gb.
Besides.... you can get two 512 chips for much cheaper than a 1gig chip. (this assuming that you have two 256 chips now) If you have one 512 chip, then just buy one more. You'll be doubling your ram for about $100 and you'll definitely notice a difference.
