I really hate having links to the itunes store... but it seems that they are ever present in itunes 8!

I have searched everywhere in the program, preferences, etc, what am i missing???

Has anyone found how to turn off the links?

This will get rid of them.

defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE

This will get rid of them.

defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE

That's Mac-only, BTW. :)

I think some people make more of a deal about this than necessary. I mean, it's not as though you are forced to click the miniscule arrow to take you to the store.

I just don't get what the problem is.

Just open terminal and type that in (or copy-paste) then restart iTunes.

First, it comes off as a forced gateway to the iTunes Store. I know its there, if I want, i can click it myself, I dont need a consistent reminder and B. I like less "shiyut" on my screen. One less button/link is more. Member, Macs are about simplicity?

The problem is that Apple is constantly trying to shove the iTunes Store down our throats to boost their sales.

I must prefer to purchase CDs at a B&M, so no thanks.

Beautiful! The links are gone! It feels like my old itunes again with new cool stuff (I love the new cover scroll look thing!)

Exactly, couldn't agree more.

Once again, agree completely.

I have seen several references to the "terminal" command; could someone explain what it means to me please, as I would dearly love to remove all references to this link? For now, I have simply disabled it, but I would like to be able to remove it.
Cheers and thanks

So, I just did this. If I am correct, the arrows still remain, but when you click on them, you don't go to the store anymore.

Is there anyway to get rid of the arrows?
