Who came up with that amazing idea then? Pulling them out of your ears in public is going to be embarresing if they have any ear wax on them (and they probably will at some point) they'll just look all brown and scabby. I mean really? At least provide some black in ear pieces so that you get the option.

They've had these for years in white with no major complaints, no?

Same in-ear concept, no?

Are you serious? Is your ear wax such an issue that yanking a set of in-ears out will result in some massive ball-o-wax?

I had the old Apple in-ears and never had this issue. I use v-modas now and still...no issues. I clean them every now and then just to be sanitary, but that's about it.

Of course I'm serious. If a tiny amount of ear wax gets left on it looks unsightly. I'd rather they just had black ones instead.

Any amount of ear wax being noticeable is a bad move if you ask me. Even if it is just a small little bit.

I've used the previous white in-ear headphones and can't remember having an issue with ear wax... ever.

Then, again I clean my ears regularly

The white headphones are not the issue here.

Who's dumb idea was this? This is getting ridiculous. I expect a lot more from Apple. NOTHING is working with the new iPhones, no Nike +, no new headphones??? WTH?

I like the white head phones.

I have used the white apple ear phones, both the current and even the older 1st generation ones. I'm not a big audiophile, so I usually will use the supplied ear phones from Apple, until they are lost or are broken. So they are in my ear's for a good amount of time.

I have never had any problems with discoloration or staining from ear wax.

I haven't a problem with the white earbuds and I've been using different ones with iPods for years. BTW earwax would be noticeable on black earbuds as well.

You can see earwax on any colour . . .
You're absolutely right. Ear wax will be just as obvious on black headphones as white.

I would do the same but I know that I would be mugged late at night when heading home taking public transportation.

Good grief. Of course with every Apple product someone will find something to complain about.
You found something, you win!

It seems Q-Tips would be an easier solution than changing the color of a whole product line. But that's just me.

I like to brush my teeth, too.

honestly? white headphones are all over the place now.
i take the EL and bus all over the city. using the standard ipod headphones, i doubt most if any people are going to be mugged because of it.

What the hell are Q-Tips?

This thread is not stupid, it is a valid issue. I clean my ears daily, the simple fact of the matter is that these headphones enter the ear canal and thus will get earwax on them. There is no denying it.

The point I was making was that white makes it 100x more obvious from a distance, where as if they were black only yourself and maybe someone standing right next to you and looking closely would see.

It really isn't rocket science here folks.

Either your monitor is screwed or you should seriously think about buying cheese somewhere else :)

I don't know what kind of funk you have growing in your ears, but white earphones seems to be the least of your problems.......

I hAve been using the new apple in ears, ear wax is indeed a huge issue and for some reason apple decided to place the actual speaker where it can get "clogged" with ear wax after extended use. The humorous illustration above is not really far fetched from what actually happens. However I love the headphones. I used to use the vmoda vibe, still love them as the bass is killer (apple in ears not as powerful).

Do you clean your ears? Daily? I'm serious. I used to get grossed out by earwax getting on my V-Modas but I figured out a daily clean of the ears can prevent it from building up.

Thats the surprising thing, I did clean my ears, the next day, ear wax again.

Cleaning your ears daily to remove wax can remove the only barrier between you and a nasty fungal infection (a.k.a., swimmer's ear). And using cotton buds (Q-tips) is a recipe for a wax-impacted ear canal....

I think the white colour is awful. It screams 'I have an Apple product: Come and rob me...'. Seriously, I know of only one other headphone that uses 'come-hither-and-mug-me' white.
