I have a Lacie firewire 800 7200rpm ext hard drive. Will that be quick enough to play games from? The typical sort of games would be Quake 3, UT, Halo.
Thanks in advance

yes, definitely!
even normal firewire would be fine. 800Mb/sec = 100megabytes/second. I've never heard of a hard drive being able to go that fast even. So it very well may be faster than your PB hard drive because that's only 5400 RPM compared to 7200 RPM.

I pay raven shield maxed out on my powerbook and that's only a 4200RPM drive.
All stuff is loaded into RAM and VRAM anyway really.
