Iphone Home Button Broken

My home button on my Iphone is completely unresponsive, so I called AppleCare and they said to take it into an Apple store to get it replaced. Am I gonna get stuck with some beat up "refurbished" 1st gen or are they gonna hook me up with a new 3G? Im trying to avoid getting someone else's beat up Iphone.
 
They will replace it with what you currently have if you are still covered. Otherwise, you'll have to pay to upgrade.
