does this mean I have 3G capabilities in my first generation phone? Any help would be most appreciated. You can e-mail me or post it here. Thanks! 🙂

No, your phone doesn't have 3G capability - but your SIM card is capable of 'registering' on 3G if you put it into a phone that does have 3G.

No, the SIM has nothing to do with the ability of the phone to recieve the 3G signal. You don't have 3G as the phone does not have the chipset in it to get the signal.
