i just ordered the new ipod touch 2g, i was looking around on the internet to look for Leather Cases but all i could find was ipod touch leather cases for the 1st gen. and i was chatting with an apple guy on the apple website, i asked if apple was going to come out with leather cases for the new ipod and he said yes but until a week or two, then i asked if the leather cases from the previous ipod touch worked he said yes but it could not be tight other wise the new buttons for the speaker on the ipod will be compressed and might not work over time... so it makes me not want to buy a leather case from the previous ipod touch, i was planning on buying it from incase i like their products but i cannot find cases for the newer ipod touch. any one know any websites where i can buy leather cases??:]
please post them here:]
-thanks in adv.:apple:

hey i've been doing some research prior to get my ipod, there is also macextreme which have pretty cool leather cases(the best looking actually), also Belkin and Griffin have nice ones, the Incase are probably the best balanced regarding price, quality and funtionality and they are distributed by the apple store, BUT all of those will begin to ship the new cases in just about that time 1 to 2 weeks, if i were u, well actually thats what im gonna do, i will hold my breath for at least 3 weeks (yeah i know a lot of scratches can happen) so the new ones comes out and people buy them and give the comments about them. im not an anal guy but for me its a pretty big thing to have the correct case for the ipod, and by the way be careful if u buy one remember that most of the places except for the ones i jus mentioned, are going to try to sell the ipod touch 1G cases so those will be cheaper but probably wont work on the 2G touch. so let me know if u foun something interesting.

I bought a Belkin leather case today at Circuit City just to keep the scratches off until the good clear acrylic cases start coming out. The tag said $29.99 but when I took it to the register it rang up at $19.99 so I was happy about that. It fits well and is not bad looking. Also came with a screen overlay but I haven't put it on yet. I'll put a link below to the case on their website. The title is listed as being for "ipod touch 3g" but it is a misprint (obviously) and I can verify it is for the 2g and it does fit nicely. Oh, it also says it comes with a removable clip. It does not.

I ordered the "DLO HipCase Leather Folio for iPod Touch 1G" from amazon. Should have it on Tuesday. I contacted DLO prior to purchase, and was told that the case needed to be certified for the 2G by Apple.

When you say "needed to be certified for the 2G by Apple" does that mean the 2G iPod Touch will fit just fine in this case? Does DLO plan to release an updated version for the 2G or will this case work just fine?
Looks like a nice case! This is the kind of case I'm looking for.

DLO, in our email exchange, did not provide any information other than the need for certification.
It looks like it will fit. The difference in dimensions between the 2g & 1g is that the 2g is 2 hundredths of an inch thicker. Looks like the volume control buttons are covered, but I plan to control the volume via the touch screen. If a design change is needed I think it will be a while, i.e., longer than I want to wait.
I'll post a review when I receive it.

This ALWAYS happens with new iPods - gotta wait for proper accessories.
Cases and car adapters are my bugaboo. Generally DLO takes a couple months to get the transdock working for new iPods, and cases are a month or two in the redesign stage.
I agree with the store guy - don't use an improper case. At this moment my preferred case is vajacases.com ! You can custom up the leather to be spiffy and unique. A tad expensive, but I see the case for the iPT as a substitute for the dock - no dock needed anymore, and I just let the cased iPT sit there plugged in under a monitor.
For a work out arm band I am still waiting for DLO's action jacket.

Here's the review I posted on amazon.com
"I didn't want to wait for the 2g version of this case for my iPod touch version 2g. So, I purchased the 1g version.
Although the iPod touch 2g is 0.02 inches thicker than the 1g, size wise the case fits the 2g flawlessly.
Prior to purchasing the case, based on the pictures, I concluded that the 2g volume control buttons would be covered. This is indeed the case (not a pun). However, I plan to use the touch screen for volume control, so this is not an issue for me.
The case does not seem to effect speaker volume or wifi connectivity.
So, fives stars for a very nice case."

The case does, however, cover the light sensor. The very top of the case gets pushed up slightly because of the curved back of the new touch, which tilts it a bit.

not all 1st gen. case fit into new ipod touch. I tried incase 'slide case'. but because of volume control, it is hard to fit into. so I just use sena leather case which is great even I don't have any protection around it. one more thing that power support film for 1st gen. is not really fit on the screen. film is ilttle smaller than screen. it also shorter than entire height. but if you want some protection temporarilly, it will be fine for a while. I did. but back is not fitting.

NoreveUSA.com (http://www.noreveusa.com/brand/Apple/product/Apple_iPod_Touch_2G_Tradition_leather_case.html) has two different cases for the 2nd gen Touch. I've bought their cases for the 1st gen and iPhone 3G, as well as for a Samsung P2, Samsung T10, and my Instinct phone and have been very satisfied with them Pricey but worth it.

I can confirm that the DLO hipcase fits the 2g perfectly. The only issue is it covers your external volume controls, but you can manage to mesh thru them if you're good.
