What all apps are borked by OS 2.1?

I had the app installed prior to updating to 2.1 and after looking at this thread just launched the app and it works. i searched for myself and found myself. Perhaps it doesn't let you install it but once installed it will work?


Also, as for Last.fm, with 2.0.2, that app was buggy like a mofo, would crash to homescreen all the time so i had removed it. If it still doesn't work in 2.1, for me, its a wash situation.

Seems likely. I did not have it (and many others) installed at the time of the 2.1 upgrade in attempt to avoid the dreaded 'no content' problem. After the upgrade I tried putting a lot of the uninstalled apps back and got that error message for Whitepages.

What's On works fine on my brand new 3G that I just purchased today and restored with my old Classic data. All of my channels are showing and it maintains the time/shows with current time. Seems fine to me.

To the OP...I would be careful about your list and get more then one report of an App that does not work with the update. There are a lot of bad installs out there and these need to be confirmed before they are plastered all over a forum as not working. This is only considerate of the Dev's that work so hard to design and make a buck off of them. Let's do this right and not jump to conclusions.

It came with the 2.0.2 version. Purchased at Best Buy and they had a ton of stock from the grand opening so think it is from that event.

And just so you know, I was not jumping on you for your thread...it is a great idea to consolidate and give both user and Dev one place to go for reports then tons of fruitless posts that will be buried by tomorrow. So keep it up but with a little refinement.

I tried to make a screen shot to post to illustrate the problem, but activating the camera makes the keyboard appear, so the screen capture looks normal. After Reading this, I launched the app again, no problem. Then thought ok, let's try ten times ... bug surfaced on third attempt. So yes, apologies, there is a bug there and I've experienced it. Soz, for misrepresentation.

apps are being put onto the "list" of problem apps with little or no confirmation from others. definitely misleading if the app got placed on the problem list because only one individual had an issue.

2) myweather launches perfectly for me and works perfectly. this could be a case of install problems with 2.1, however if installed it works fine as i reported earlier about whitepages working fine

Can you add 'Whoshere' to the list too.. this crashes on loading every time for me, although the developers can't replicate this.

I've tried numerous reboots and resets, deletions and downloads but nothing seems to fix it. Several installed apps attempted to re-download themselves following the update though, only to mysteriously disappear before the status bar was filled in..

Also, whenever I try to race in New York, the application often crashes on me. A restart does fix this however, but kinda strange. I have not had it crash trying to race at other locations.

Note #2: It appears as though applications which prompt for a password upon launching unreliably present the keyboard for password entry. Both SplashID and eWallet appear to have the same issue. However tapping the password blank brings up the keyboard manually.


I can confirm that Truphone is not working properly. I have to turn off the phone and turn it back on. Truphone has never been a great app but now it is even more crappy.

What's on works for me. though the first time i tried to launch it, it crashed back to the homescreen (one of the first apps on 2.1 to crash upon launching). however, the second time i tried to launch it, it came up and is working fine, on 3g.

amazingly enough, the app doesn't seem to work on wifi though....can someone else confirm this?

Neither Asphalt 4 nor Platinum Sudoku will play at all for me. Both load, but then within 2 seconds after loading, they crash 100% of the time.

EDIT: Both WILL now play again, after a reboot. Power down and back up and see if that helps other apps. (See this tip (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=565694).)

Aurora Feint just went completely black-screen for 10 seconds before crashing back to home.

That's a common bug with 2.0-2.1. Not the app itself.

That's actually not a bug with the iPhone OS, it's a feature. The iPhone does that when its memory is running low enough that the phone app might not be able to receive a call. The lack of memory problem *can* be caused by a bug in the OS, but it can also be caused by the app using too much memory. Or by the app using memory *and* the user keeping too many web pages in Safari open or using the iPod app and/or other things that use up memory.

This is one of the reasons Apple doesn't allow App-store apps to run in the background, because of the limited system memory and the fact that users will blame the system if an app they run causes problems with other apps.

We pushed BillMinder 1.01 to Apple a while back -- hopefully it'll be released soon. It should fix most of the issues people have been having (really, it fixes all we know about). We're in the process of adding alerting functionality to it as well for the next version. Very sorry for the trouble this might have caused any of our customers.

Both versions of my app EirText & EirText Pro now crash on firmware 2.1. I've rushed out a fix, but I now have to sit and wait until Apple pull the finger out and approve it. Again.

Oh well, at least I have a pile of support emails to keep me occupied until the update hits... :mad:
