When Apple released the iPod touch last year, they also released a new Universal Dock alongside of it. It was explained to us original Universal Dock owners that the new iPods would recognize a special chip in the cable in order to send video out. So I have the first gen iPod touch and the original Universal Dock. I knew that the iPod touch did not send composite video out of the headphone jack, like the 5th and 5.5 gen did. I had read that my new touch would not send video out through the S-video of my original dock and thus never tried. Today I wanted to rent a movie through iTunes and decided to give the dock a shot. Good heavens, it works perfectly. Why I never tried it before, I do not know. Something to think about.
