How to make a bootable firewire HD?

Hi - I know that not all firewire hard drives on the market are bootable for Macs and I'm interested in turning my notebook HD into a bootable firewire drive. I saw that Macally makes a hard drive enclosure with USB 2.0 and Firewire hookups.

My question is - would I be able to use this as a bootable hard drive? Does anyone know of another enclosure which is Mac bootable?

Make sure you get one with an Oxford 911 (or 922 if you're going FW800), install whatever OS on said hard drive, go to System Preferences/Startup Disc, select the OS you want to boot and viola!

Thanks for your response. According to their website, the Macally enclosure I was looking at doesn't use the Oxford chipsets at all.
