I have to agree the yellow nano is absolutely kickass, and if I didn't have an iPhone I might have gotten one. But I'm a guy, and I love my white iPhone. White looks so much better, IMO, and you don't always have to clean it so it looks good like you have to do for the black. Black is nice, though.

* The black shows too many fingerprints on the back.
* The white = 16gb (don't bother asking me which one I got)
* I like it because most users have black and I like going with the underdog.
* You see the white back, you already know it's an iPhone.

I bought mine, a white 16GB model, like that. The store didn't have any black 16GB ones in stock, and I was not going to wait any longer. I am now glad I picked white, though. It only took me a few days before I became truly fond of the white body. I even returned the black case I'd bought with the phone and bought a clear case instead. :)

Well, the most obvious reason would be that brides dress in white, while grooms (usually) wear black. In the military world, white is the color of surrender. In Victorian England a purported coward would be presented with a white feather. In English heraldry, white signifies purity, virtue, and innocence. The white ribbon is a symbol for feminists and people denouncing violence against women. The list goes on... virgins... angels...

Of course there are some gender neutral, male and perhaps even borderline macho associations to white as well... the white knight... moon rockets... the White House... royalism... capitalism... Japan's official racing color... etc.

If anyone needs help to perceive the colors as more gender neutral, think of them as chess pieces, or just as Stormtrooper vs. Darth Vader.

The aluminium and that black rubber trim at the bottom made it look more sophisticated. The iPhone 3G looks cheaper, less premium.

IMO the biggest "white" product was the earphones that became signature Apple.

As you can see now... white is slowing being phased out by Apple's current theme of blacks and aluminum (MacBook air, iMac, iPhone 2G, classic iPods, etc etc.)

What's interesting about this is white, although being phased out, is almost required to continue to be used. The head phones, the cables, mice, keyboards, etc. They all are white plastic. Even the iPhone brought white back. They can't make the head phones out of aluminum, nor the mice so they'll have to stick with white. Which is a little annoying as I was glad to see them phasing out plastic.

i look down upon people with white apple products.
those who buy white fall into these categories:

- buying the product as jewellry
- to be "cool" and stand out as apple user/owner
- low self esteem, need this to make themselves feel good
- know nothing about computers
- have very poor taste in music
- waste time
- chat on facebook and msn

unless you are fairly poor and couldnt afford the black one or the pro, i dont respect youre choice in choosing white.

and if you do choose white, you should be making a massive attempt to hide it in public, and only mainly use it in private, or make efforts to hide the colour with a case or something, outdoors.

I had already planned to upgrade to the 320GB hard drive and use the one that came in my Macbook as an external. Sooo....I think I'm pretty smart for saving myself $200, don't you think?
