EDIT: So all I do is shiftclick on restore, browse to the firmware, and hit ok? o.O

Hey, how would I go about using jailbroken 2.1 firmware to jailbreak my 3G (I just have the .ipsw and iTunes 8)? I Googled around and couldn't find anything....

I apologize for the stupid question :P

Also, I got the firmware from this thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=562707 One guy was successful with it, not sure about the others....I should be alright using it, correct? What if it's somehow "bad" firmware? Can I restore it if it is?

Ah, ok, just figured out DFU mode.

I'm a bit worried about the custom firmware....a user said he had success using it...but say it is "bad"...would I be able to restore out of it?

Also, the firmware is called "iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Custom_Restore"...it is supposed to have the Custom Restore on at the end of it?
