I'm working on a Keynote presentation that includes video backgrounds with my Core 2 Duo MacBook, and while testing it on a 1024x768 screen, keynote returned the dreaded "insufficient video memory for this presentation error". I'm doing presenter mode too, so there are actually 2 separate screens being used.

Does anyone know how I can force Keynote to use more memory or somehow get around this error?

Or maybe there is nothing you can do short of getting a MBP?

Spending $2400+ on a machine to run Keynote seems very wasteful and inefficient. Not to mention just dumb.

I'm sure there's a way to do it.

You could try running the video at a lower resolution, or indeed the whole presentation at 800x600. Many of the projectors at college were still 800x600 so I doubt all that many people will notice.
