Fair price for a 16gb iPhone 3G without contract?

16GB is $299, not $199. Also if you terminate immediately do you still get to keep the phone? Just wondering if there is any fine print in the contract that says you must cough it up.

I think they are worth at least 500-600 each. That is what they are going to cost without a contract if ATT ever offers them.
I think a new 16 gig one should cost 500 and giving it to your friend for about 450 should be ok for both
anjinhamarota: are they locked to your provider in Portugal as they are locked in the US?you presently cannot unlock 3gs,and as the italian price for a perfectly unlocked 3g usable with any provider's sim in any country is 569- 16gig, i say 450$ is ok for one that's locked to AT&T,for a friend,that is..

Yes, they are locked. 😡 I heard you can unlock them here for about 200 euros more, but I don't know if that's true.

The fine prints say if you back out of your contract before the 30 days you must return the phone, you will not be charged for a fee on canceling the contract. However you must pay the first month bill.
If back out of the contract after the 30days you can keep the phone but you must pay the early termination fee which is $175.
