Will Western Digital Hard Drives work for the Powermac G5s? The requirement say:

IDE - ATA/EIDE/ATAPI 40 pin Header


System Requirements: This drive is compatible with all PCs and Macs that have the appropriate speed ATA interface available.

You need a Serial ATA (SATA) drive for a G5. What you have described is a parallel ATA (PATA, IDE...) drive. The G5 only accepts a SATA drive.

western digital does make SATA drives though

I have a Western Digital Raptor, which is SATA. Will this work with the G5's?

it will work
use disk utility to format it if necessary
