Hi - I'd like to add a networkable laser printer to my small home Mac network. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good brand, preferably somewhat affordable?

Hopefully this will help but I recently purchased an HP Laserjet 1012; I got it from Amazon in November for $150. I think it's great; it runs without any problems on 10.3, the print looks good (I never print graphics), and it's quiet and fast. The cartridges are a tiny bit more--$70 for a 2000-page cartridge (I think $70/2500pp. is standard). Also, it uses a newer type of cartridge they dub "ultraprecise," but which sounds suspiciously like a fancy name for somethign third-party manufacturers would have a hard time copying. But for $150 that's fine with me.

I don't know anything about it's networking capabitilities; perhaps someone else could help out there.

Good luck!

You might check out the Brother HL 50x0 series; I've heard very good things about them, and they start a little above $200.

I've got a HL 5070N (the network version) that I'll be setting up in a couple days, so I'll know firsthand how well that model works soon. Seems to have mid-sized office-class features for $450, though--it's network-ready, Rendevous equipped, and high speed.
