Some how these numbers just don't add up. If Apple is selling about 3% of the personal computer market, how can the Safari browser only have 0.48% of the world wide market.
Is this just because the general OSX public is still using IE?

Mac users who use OS X are still in the minority. I think Steve said only 40% of the userbase use OS X.

If everyone out there was using a brand new computer, we would probably see Safari use at the same percentage as Mac use, but since IE (not Safari) is the default browser for OS 9 and all of the OS X's before 10.3, it's not much of a surprise. It's actually pretty amazing if a sixth of the Mac user base is running the newest version of OS X.

Better stats would be to see what all the 'Mac' sites use. I imagine that number would be quite different.
Maybe it will double again in 6 months.
