Has anyone used or familiar with the IMAX series of Iphone battery extenders/rechargers.
Here is a link to their site:
http://www.imaxpower.com/
They have a series of rechargeable extenders that go all the way up to 5000 MaH based on their spec's and can supposedly recharge the iphone for up to 30+ hours of use. They look reasonably compact and are rechargeable both through a usb connection as well as through a wall outlet.
thanks

The iMax looks pretty cool. How does it connect to the iPhone? with a short plug?
I am looking for a battery recharger that I can use with my phone in the Seidio innocase.

This iMax charger looks awesome! I may order it.
The Seidio innocase is pretty good imo. It's the smallest case out there that covers the chrome. It offers a nice rubberized grip too.

I was about to buy this external battery but after watching the film, I noticed something strange. He plugged in the battery right, turned it on and if you notice the GREEN BAR that displays the battery for the iPhone kinda lessened first then began charging (fastforward to 3:03) Is that normal? More info on the video found here. (http://www.imaxpower.com/IMP5003G_introduction.html)
Anyone who owns this battery, can you please post a detailed review? I'm particular how long it charges an iPhone 3G from like 10% to full, how long the battery holds up (err I mean how many full charges can it give to an iPhone, website claims 500%) and what's really included in the package (is it the battery, the iPhone 3g adapter, USB cable then no more? just 3)
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for late. Not easy to discharge all battery of my iphone and imaxpower.
I charged imaxpower battery from 8:40am this morning from empty (no any power light) by adapter.
I checked the status on 2:19pm, the LED from low to high all light up. I didn't read the user manual, not sure why the light was still flash, but it looks full, not sure whether it is 100% full. anyway I stop the charging.
-- 3 hrs 30 minutes (may not be accurate)
2:19pm, I start to charge my IPHONE(v2.0 ) from 0%battery (not functional anymore) by connecting to imaxpower. The iphone battery was full when I checked it at 3:50pm.
--- 2:19pm to 3:50pm, within 90minutes, iphone has been fully charged. Cool
the LED on imaxpower batery from low to high are still lighting up.
Maybe you want to know how many times can this battery to charge iphone from empty to full. I will keep you updated if I have the data. but not today, not this week I think.
I am using 2G Iphone. My brother has 3G. But it is hard to get this kind of experiment data from his phone.

I really appreciate by letting me be updated with this one. 90 minutes is considerably fast. If they claim they can charge it 5 times then that's really useful. I believe there's an on/off switch on the device for the led? Not quite sure. Thanks a bunch though! I'll order one then.

Thanks a lot for your refer. I purchased one IMP500 from www.imaxpower.com. Received it within 4 days including weekend. Very fast shipping. Here is my test result.
Charging speed --- It takes 3-4 hours fully charge up via iPhone AC charger
I drained out iPhone battery to 0% and started to recharge it using IMP500, it took 1.2 hours fully charge to 100%. Then I drained out the battery again to 0% again. it took another 1.2 hours to 100%. I repeat 4 times and still had some battery remained.
Pros.
Big capacity, very power
Cons
Still need USB cable, if it become cableless, that will be awesome

Right now it is discounted online, which is cool. I'm charging it right now, I contacted them they said the battery is initially at 20% and I need to fully charge it. Haven't tested the capacity on this thing on how many times it can recharge an iPhone 3G from dead to 100% (should be close to 5 times as they claim)
I will update you guys once I've used this for a week or more. Now I need to find a pouch of some sort to fit this battery with the cable. I'm afraid I might loose it if I just toss them all at the back of my car :D

Actually, I still saw that $49.95 pricing on their website prior when they changed it to $59.95. I took a photo of it using my iPhone ;) and negotiated with the seller. It worked out fine :)
UPDATE with regards to the battery,
So far I've only used it once to completely fully charge a dead iPhone, it only took me from 9:39 PM till 11 P.M. roughly to finish it. So far doing good.

Yup the unit doesn't turn off automatically (Even after fully charging the battery itself) which I knew beforehand before buying the product.
I checked the manual, it doesn't say anything about damaging the phone when you do that, you might want to e-mail them for an answer: sales@imaxpower.com - they answer very quickly (based on my queries)
UPDATE:
So far I've done 3 fully charged cycles on this battery and still it has 2 lights on it. Supposedly, it should run out of juice after 5 cycles, we'll see.

It doesn't trigger that message. I've used it to charge 3 full cycles so far, no error messages like that. Their package doesn't include that "Made for iPod/iPhone" seal just to let you know, but it works fine.

I asked them, here's their response:
Hi,
This is normal. Since your iphone is on, it will need some minimum current to keep it on. This current will make led on for the charger. Its current is very low and it won't damage iphone.
For the 2nd question, it won't damage your battery also. Thanks

Hi,
My name is _______ and I was wondering, because the battery pack doesn't turn off automatically after fully charging the iPhone, will that damage the iPhone if it is still connected?
One more question, if you're charging the battery pack through USB and since it doesn't turn off automatically as well after being fully charged, will that damage the battery pack if I left it plugged?

Just an update,
So I had this battery for a week and I must say I'm impressed. It can give your iPhone up to 4.5 times of fully charges battery. The external battery can be fully charged in a span of roughly 1.5hrs. The only flaw that I found with this battery is like what everybody said, there's no automatic turn off feature when the iPhone is fully charged, as well as when you're charging the battery itself. Other than that I'm impressed. I used it to play games on my iPhone so I don't have to be near a wall or computer.

10 days ago I bought this imp500 from this online store
http://www.imaxpower.com
So far this battery pack worked really well with my 3G iphone and G1 phone. After fully recharged powerpack, we can use this battery pack to charge up 3G iphone by 4.7 cycles which is pretty much closed to 500%. I did an experiment, if charge iphone from 0% to 100% battery level, if use this powerpack, it will take less than 1.5 hours, if use iphone original AC wall charger, it will also take less than 1.5 hours. So the charging speed is very comparable.
Regarding the charging LED not off after fully charge, I also contacted them and they give me this reply, a very reasonable explanation. They told me this can be fixed very easily. I don't worry about this too much. Here is their reply regarding the LED issue, FYI...
*******************
The reason of LED (3 lights) was kept on after a fully charge up was to remind the user that iphone battery was fully charged. Therefore the current needed for keeping led light on is very small, which is less than 10mA. This current is so small that it can never never damage your 3G iphone. Therefore inside the powerpack, we put an current protection circuit, which will provent any possible current larger than iphone current limit. We have been measured the current 1000 times and it is very stable and safe
In fact, this LED can be automatically turned off if the users prefer it to be off after a fully charging up. Our engineer just need to adjust the LED trigger threshold a little bit to shut LED off after a fully charge up if this user's preference. We will change it next time.
Thanks for your understanding and feedback

I, like so many of you, was seeking a reasonable and convenient way to extend my iPod usage while traveling and without having to pack all those extras. I currently use my Imaxpower 5000mAh battery pack for traveling with my iPod Touch and my wife's iPod Nano. After a lengthy search for a convenient battery source for our iPods and my iPod Touch we came upon the Imaxpower battery pack IMP500. The web site videos were thorough, complete, and made the operation of charging or using while charging for our iPods very simple. After acquiring one, it is as simple as it appears and after two weeks of charge, play to expend, and recharge, it continues to work brilliantly, both for recharging and using while our iPods charge. On the older 40gb iPod Photo we got four full charges from one charge of the Imaxpower battery pack. While we have no photos only around 2000 songs, my play cycle is about 8 to 10 hours per charge. I am having similar positive results with my new 2nd generation 16gb iPod Touch. With several long distance airline trips in the near future, I can rest assured that we will be listening for many hours because of the Imaxpower IMP500. Best of all: Currently $59.00 which includes the adapter on their website. It works almost as long as you want to stay online or recharge it at intervals.

I travel and fly a lot and I was constantly draining my phone before I got off the plane. The iMax is the only battery I've found that really has juice to spare for running and charging the iPhone.
This battery allows me to use the iPhone for many hours and still leave the plane with a charged phone. I also use the battery to charge the phone if I am at a gig or other public place. Rather than plug it into an outlet, out in the open, I’ll leave my phone in my case out of sight, charging discreetly. Anytime I find myself stationary for a while, I pull out the external battery and use it, leaving my phone more topped off for when I’m on the move.
This battery has worked flawlessly for me so far (about a month of pretty heavy use). The phone’s automatic charge status works perfectly, (letting me know when the phone has received a full charge, just like it does with the Apple AC charger). The battery has never gotten hot or malfunctioned. For the price, it’s incredibly convenient. I never have to think about conserving my battery power anymore just to get through the day. I'm liking it lots and just won’t travel without it.

Just got my new 3Gs iPhone last week. Not happy with the battery life especially with 3.0 firmware loaded with new phone. Battery drain like crazy. Friend recommended me to try this imaxpower imp500, received within 3 days and tried it over the weekend and found I can recharge 3Gs iphone with imp500 by more than 3.5 times, close to 4 times! Now I can enjoy 3Gs iphone more than my 3G iphone because of new video ability, battery life is fine with this backup battery. Very happy buyer. give it a try

Somethings fishy. Same English as Youtube reviewer and the iPhone must be plugged into wall outlet if at 0%. Additionally, the time doesn't match with a) USB recharge time b) wall rechrge time c) the person who independently uses one below.
Employees should disclose there interests when writing reviews.

my only complaint about the imax is the plug tends to pull out of the unit with little effort. so if it is in your pocket or where it gets bumped it may not be charging. I fixed with some tape on the usb plug. Plus I am using a older locking apple cable a the one that came with the imax would come out of the phone.

Very interesting thread. But I have some comments, concerns.
Obviously the number one reason for buying an external battery is power/longevity. To that extant, one should buy at least a 1900mAh. There are number of these on eBay and elsewhere.
The Imax has certainly gotten great reviews and it has plenty of reserve power and would likely be a good choice for this type of battery/charger.
However, is this the most useful charger for most iPhone users?
People in this thread recommending the iMax talk about the convenience of not having to take all the cables and paraphernalia with them on the road. But all one needs to carry is the USB cable (which I would take with no matter what) and the tiny wall charger. That isn't much to carry.
There are outlets everywhere and it's no big deal to plug in the iPhone when needed.
What I would think is more useful, is that I have a battery I can pop in my pocket or a bag and attach to the iPhone when it is running down. With something like the iMax, how do you use the phone? The cable isn't long enough to pop the battery in your pocket while using the phone. So, really, it is just another way of charger the phone battery--albeit convenient because you can just do it while the phone is in your briefcase. But, you cannot really use the phone as a phone on a holster or in your pocket while it is charging.
That would seem to be a major drawback as I see it. And the cables and dongles are more intrusive that the original Apple charger and cable.
What makes more sense to me is one of the other two options:
1. a plug in battery like the Richard Solo or any number of knockoffs on eBay for as little at $16. With these you can at least still hold your phone up to your face and use it as a phone.
Yes, the capacity is less but at least you still have a phone.
2. the jacket type of chargers.
eg: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Portable-power-station-dock-for-Iphone-3G-2400mah_W0QQitemZ250420772408QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3a4e3dbe38&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1215%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
these allow you to use the phone as well and are even more convenient in that regard than the Richard Solo types that hang off the bottom of the phone. And at $22 they are pretty cheap and at 2400mAh pack a bit of power.
I know they add weight and bulk to the phone--but surely the iMax, with its cords, dongles and weight, are no less convenient.
At least with these you can just put on the case and away you go. The phone retains all its usefulness while charging.
Any comments on these observations?

Can anyone tell me if you can charge your iPhone with a case on?
I have an Otterbox Defender and I hardly ever take my phone out of it's case so if I have to constantly take it out to charge then this will not be a good option for me.
The Apple usb charger fits fine through my case. I was just wondering because in the video the adapter looks a little bulky at the end and I'm afraid it won't fit through my cases dock access.
Thanx.

Sounds like I can: I don't like the iMax cable so I will go the the Apple one.

I bought my wife an 3Gs iphone 16GB as a gift. She loved it so much and she loved video recording and google earth the most. I am very happy to see IMP500 can charge 3Gs iphone as well. Google earth and GPS application Drain battery like crazy. If we turn on GPS or google earth, battery can only last 2 hours. If loaded a GolfGPS application into it, you cannot finish first 5 holes. It looked iphone with any GPS application need a strong battery backup.
By the way, just use any cable come with your smart phone, it works fine with imp500.

Dumb question: how do you use the phone with all that hardware hanging off it?
If you want to use the phone while it is charging (as opposed to just using this thing to charge while the phone is on your desk or in a bag) wouldn't a jacket type charger (like Mophie, Mili, etc) be more useful?

I usually use it more while it's on a desk or it's in my pocket, then if I really need to use the phone (like talk while talking towards the kichen) I just simply unplug and use it. Sometimes though, thanks to the cord, I can just pull and uncoil the cord to lengthen so I could use the phone on my hands while the charger is on the desk (or inside my pocket)

Forget about buying those cases or that FM Transmitter for the iPhone 3G. You are better off initially investing your hard earned money on an iPhone 3G battery extender. I don't give a rats @ss how conservative you are or how exact you are at following Apple's suggestions for "extending" the iPhone 3G's battery life. Your iPhone 3G will most likely run out of juice before you quit for the day.

I bought the power battery from IMAX POWER for a recent trip. I charged it once. I have since recharged my Iphone 3 times and it still has power to go.
Great product.
The customer service from the company is WONDERFUL. I had a response to a question with in one hour if that. They were great.
Will buy from them again.

IMP500 capacity is 5000 mAh not the USB output current.
The website never disclose the information on the USB output current. So far the USB charges I've seen are 1.5 A for HTC phone, iPhone 3GS wall charger is 1A, Jawbone is 550mA. I don't think it can output 5000mA = 5A. That is just too dangerous for USB devices.
The Sanyo has 5000 mAh Li-ION capacity and 500 mA USB output current.

I know that the Sanyo eneloop rechargeable batteries have an excellent reputation for maintaining their charge over a long period of time. I assume this battery has the same technology.
And the previous post is correct: the capacity is 5000mAh. The output refers to how it discharges into another device.
This is definitely a much better buy than the imaxpower and it's from a very reputable battery maker. They both weigh the same.
Why pay $58 when $38 will do!
Thanks for the tip, although I think I'm going to buy an iPower battery jacket-type with 2400mAh on eBay for $24U.S.
But I might consider the Sanyo based on what I just read on Amazon. Where has this product been hiding?

The Bluepack S3 from Richardsolo has 1mA but it's less capacity and expensive.

I know that the minimum output current for 3Gs iPhone is 550mA at 5V. I checked my imp500, the output current is 600mA at 5V, which is just perfect for the iphone. It is also stated in its site.

Okay, after contacted Apple technique support, we fount that 500mA output current shall work fine with iPHone 3G and 3Gs but the charging speed will be slower. For AC charger provided by Apple, 1A output is the maximum current from AC charger. The real charging current can be somewhere from 500A to 750mA, it really depends on the iphone battery level. At very low battery level like 5 to 10 %, charging current from AC charger can be as high as 750mA. if battery level is close to full, the charging current from AC charger canl be as low as 500mA. Anything from 500mA to 750mA shall be fine for the charging current. 1A shall work also, maybe a little too high.

I have had it for three weeks now. And used it to charge both an iPhone 3Gs and an iPod Touch 16g 2nd Generation.
Powerful power supply for my iPhone 3Gs and iPod Touch 2nd Generation. It charges the half-empty iPhone in about 25 minutes. Good design; IMHO, it's better than some third-party battery paks that plug directly into Apple connector and creates stress at the joint possibly breaking off the connector. Plus, it's cumbersome and bulky to have an extra one inch or so of the plug-in battery protruding.
I have not experienced abnormalities, i.e. hot, non-charging problems, etc. yet. Someone posted the Sanyo Lithium-Ion battery booster 5000 mAH for $15. That looks too good to bet true to me though. I checked CostCo Web and did a search for Sanyo Eneloop, no luck. ...

And the case seems more sturdy, less prone to the scratching which some reported with the 500. The many adapters included means it can also charge other phones. Now I have to decide which battery I want, the 500 or the 880.( sells for approx $30 more than the 500. Gee, I hate these types of choices!

I own an IMP880 powerpack and test it over the weekend. Recharge iphone over 6 times. I don't have enough patience to test the exact video playing time but I know this is a very solid product. Right now IMP880 is out of stock. Not sure when it will be in stock again.

I purchased the IMP-500 to provide backup power to my MIFI 2200 hotspot from verizon which I use with my Itouch 32 GB. The MIFI is a relatively new device and can use quite a bit of power thereby draining its battery after an hour or so. Because of this fact, having a backup battery supply is essential. The IMP-500 will successfully charge my MIFI 2200 and provides power when it is needed. I currently do not have any problems or issues with the device and am quite pleased that it is doing exactly what I purchased it to do.

I have now used the IMP500 on two cross-country flights and it has worked very well. Both flights had delays and layovers, so the iPhone and IMP500 got about 12 hours of continuous use each time. The iPhone battery was fully-charged at the end of each trip. The IMP500 is small, about the size of the iPhone, and very portable. Highly recommended.

I've had this unit for about 6 months now, and I'll have to admit, it's not like the rest. It's very portable, handy, does not take up too much room, and you can easily store it in your laptop bag or even a pocket (if you use a holster for your iPhone).
The battery life this has given me more freedom to do what I want to do. When I'm having a backyard gatherings and on WiFi controlling my iTunes music, it take's its toll. Just sit the iPhone down on a table with the charger plugged in, extend the retractable cable when you need to reach it, and do your thing. Yeah it's "another cable", but are you plugged into an outlet? Nope. Can you go anywhere you like? Yeah. For those that complain that it's too bulky, wouldn't it be more of a hassle having to dock yourself to an outlet "to charge your phone" while everyone else is freely doing their thing?
Overall, I am impressed, and happy with my external battery.

I've had mine since Nov '08 and it's is really doing an excellent job. Disregarding the scratches that I caused, it really impressed me how long this battery can go. Hopefully it could still support the 4th generation iPhone next year ;)

Purchased this for my wife. It works wonderfully!!!! Our son uses the iphone to play games alot, so when we travel or just in the car for a long drive the extra battery power has come in handy more than once. Greatest use my wife received from it......While in an airport she was only minutes away from missing a flight, had kid in tow, and carryon. There was not time to plug in her phone which was near battery life death. She remembered she had the imax powerpack in her purse. She slipped it on placed phone in her purse. By the time she was seated, and ready to go her phone was nearly fully charged. REAL lifesaver because they were on a 6 1/2 flight, so our son was not left iphoneless.

After research, found only 4 real imaxpower sellers in the market. Be aware that only one authentic seller in each market place. On Amazon, seller called imaxpower is the real one. On Ebay, seller called www-imaxpower-com is the real one. For online merchants, www.imaxpower.com and GolfGPS.com are the real store. Other resellers claimed carrying imp500 are actually selling a similar product with a different packaging and model number (something like NT500 or HNB500). Be aware of some ebay resellers (2 or 3 of ebay power sellers) are selling similar product with the model HNB500 but claiming is imp500. On Amazon, some sellers are selling different model number (NT500) other than imp500. Be aware of this info and spend your money wisely. Merry Christmas!

I may be a newbie here but I know batteries. The iPhone 3gs that I have has an amazing battery life on it's own but I needed some extra power since I use it like a maniac. At first I bought an attachable portable battery from the apple store. It promised a full charge but only gave me 60 percent. Then I bought the mophie for 80 dollars because I thought it was convenient. It also promised a full charge. The problem was it was bulky and only gave me 70 percent more power. I came across this page and decided to try the imp500. I took it out for a test drive on a weekend away and it worked amazingly. It was thirty dollars cheaper and had more than 4 times the power of the mophie. I don't know about other batteries out there but I do know this, the battery can recharge an iPhone 4 times and the customer service is amazing. I don't know about the 30 dollar sanyo but the warranty and the excellent customer service is well worth the extra 20 dollars.

The ImaxPower IMP19500 was a Christmas present for me. It came charged. My Iphone was dead..0% charge on the Iphone 3GS. It took roughly 4.5 hours to fully charge my phone, but I was playing with it the whole time. It charged while I used it. I have been using my phone non-stop. I have surfed the Web, played games, watched movies, listened to music...made my screen bright for no reason, charged friends phones. There is no sign of the battery draining.. It's crazy good. It seems like I can start my car with this thing.. You can't go wrong with it. I mean, it's a little big, but who cares--it still fits in my pocket and works EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. At $109, it was a steal. I am set for the zombie invasion. You don't even have to think about this one. The battery shipped immediately, came charged, and is amazing in every way. Customer service is phenomenal too. I called several times to ask various questions and John is very cordial and professional. It is still weird to me to not be pluggin' my phone into the wall and not worrying about it going dead, but it's good weird. I LOVE IT!!!

I love my iPhone 3G, it let me in touch with all my clients on the road. But the battery life is suck as everyone know! I'm so glad I found IMP500 External Backup Battery with 5000mA Capacity. This is the largest capacity battery I could find with small enough to fit in my back pocket with both iPhone and IMP500 and has the best price. I bought 4 units for my family as Christmas gifts, they all iPhone users and love them. I lost my USB charging cable last week and called iMaxpower, spoke to John C. such a great guy. He is sending me a new USB cable free of charge, great customer service.
I highly recommend this product to anyone. My 2 cent!!!!

To each has it's own, I use it to charge while I'm at desk or even while walking and talking, the battery is on my pocket and there's a line towards the iPhone on my ear :p pretty handy I must say, I don't mind about the dangling wire.

I recently purchased the IMP500 after a lot of internet research. It arrived within days and works as advertised. It recharges my iphone 3Gs quickly and without a hitch. I couldn't be happier. I especially like that it is small and lightweight and sleek and fits in my pocket easily. Not having a bulky battery hanging off of the iphone is a real plus. I had a question and sent an email to the company. Within 5 minutes someone had called me and answered my question. VERY NICE! I highly recommend ImaxPower.

I can tell you this for now however. The product is superlative in its function, design and delivery. To date I have not found a battery pack that works as well and for as long as the IMP500. What is more important to the consumer, is considering the bang it offers the buck is quite reasonable.
I advise that if you are in the market for a backup battery for your mobile devices, this is the product for you. Do not hesitate to purchase it.

I have been doing research to buy iphone 3G backup battery from few days and found couple of good solutions but now I am thinking which one would be better?
xpalpower has xp8000N without an A/C power adapter
xp8000 comes with an A/C adapter
IMP500 I liked it and costs $50 with free shipping.
Sanyo KBC-L2S looks good and has same power as IMP500 and costs $40 with $10 shipping to US.
I liked small size of Sanyo KBC-L2S but it takes 7 hours to charge from A/C power adapter and 14 hours from USB.
I liked xpalpower xp8000N costs $43 online but need to buy A/C power adapter seperately and will not charge from USB
I am deciding between Sanyo / xpalpower because both are good quality product and also imaxpower which I am not sure.
xp8000N with A/C power adapter becomes bulky
Can you all help me please to choose.
Thanks.

I'm sure it was NOT the company that hacked it, but someone hacked THEIR site and thus my email. China and Google have not been getting along lately! So as I said, don't order with a Gmail account or create an account on their site with a Gmail account if you do. I did both of these things and I'm not sure which was the problem.

I'm just writing what my observations are, but to be honest it works like what I've said.
The phone is on while charging, I usually charge it when I hit that 20% indication. I have 3G, Wifi and Bluetooth on.
Yes I use the phone during the charge, I either txt, surf, or talk to someone over the phone for like 5mins then I let it charge by itself and leave it on a desk.
I don't unplug it right away when it hits 100% since I'm usually away from it and I don't notice it. As soon as I see the plug icon I unplug it. The charger doesn't have auto off as well.
This is the best battery that I've purchased so far, worthy investment if I must say.

I can back this up. For about a year, I've used the IMP500 and I get about 4 charges out of it when down to 20% or so. I'd say at least 3.5 closer to 0% and in the year I've had, I've noticed no decrease in battery power. I've also flown from the US to Europe and back home, while plugged into the IMP5000 watching movies the entire time, both ways, and the battery still had juice in it once I got home. So far, the IMP5000 is the best Battery I've owned.

The IMP 500 by IMAX Power is the best protable battery you can buy. I got one and it malfunctioned and the company quickly shipped me a replacement. The customer support and service is top notch. I would not hesitate to buy anything from them. The battery charges my Motorola Droid in about 1.5 hours. Unbelievable. The IMP 500 still has hours of charges left after charging my Droid and iPod Touch. It is so easy to use and looks great too. Compact and easy to carry. The cable and the connectors are excellent too. If you need a portable battery, this is the one to buy. Lasts a very long time.

Odd. Is your battery newly bought? I strongly suggest to contact them about that. Do you play games while it's charging?

I use the supplied USB cable, cause you can retract them if not used. I only use the Apple ones when I sync my iPhone.

Ah ok gotcha. Last question, is it safe to leave it charging over the night? Like right now I'm going to bed but it's like 3/4 charged. Is it ok if I leave it charging till tomorrow?

Ok everybody here are my results! I never charged the Imax or iPhone with anything else during this test.
Start 33% to 100%
Starr 64% to 91%
Start 6% to 100%
Start 37% to 100% (While Listening to Slacker Radio)
Start 33% to 78% (While Listening to Slacker Radio)
It went out of battery there at 78%. I got 2 full days of usage without having to charge it! I am a happy customer :)

When I asked them that question before, they said it is safe, the current from the battery to the iPhone when fully charged doesn't harm the iPhone at all
And good to hear you're getting great results

Got this last week here are my results after fully charging the imaxpower imp 880:
1. 22 > 100
2. 18 > 95
3. 24 > 100
4. 17 > 100
5. 36 > 100
6. 21 > 100
7. 29 > 100
8. 34 > 56
This amounts to 5.5 full charges, during a couple of the charges I was surfing the web and playing games.

Loving my IMAX but is there a case or something for it? I've dropped it 2 times (nasty drops) and luckily it's still working fine.

That was my main concern before (when I first bought it) but now I've realized that it's quite sturdy so I left it as it is. A case for my iPhone is enough, which I haven't dropped; battery without a case - dropped numerous times :p

Does anyone know where I can still purchase the Imax Battery Extender?
It's showing "out of stock" on their website :(

They are out of stock for the case/charger one that is new but not for the external charger (http://www.imaxpower.com/IMP500-3G-3Gs-iPhone-iTouch-external-battery-p/imp500.htm) that we have all been talking about

I would suggest the external battery one, that thing is really reliable after all these months. I'm trying out the battery case, I'll see if it is as good as the external one.

Just a heads up to everyone who wants to buy this product, their website actually changed now to www.newtrent.com instead of the former IMAX website.

Luckily I was able to make the purchase from Amazon when they just announced their special promotion when it was IMP1000, now its known as IMP880E. I have nothing but great things to say. I already own the IMP880 but this one kicks it up a notch so my iPad is charged to full capacity.
It absolutely does what it says it will do. The website www.newtrent.com lets you preorder now as I think they will get their next shipment by the 27th of this month. So go for it!

The IMP500 works fine with an iPad, good for about a 50% charge on that device. Be sure to use the provided cable and adapter when charging an iPad though, or you'll get a charging error. Still trickle charges when the screen is off though, even if it says it doesn't when used with any cable other than the one from NewTrent.
The IMP500 is a terrific charger. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the IMP880E (or 1000, whatever) if I needed a bigger boost.

I was a little confused by the name IMP880E and I will prefer to have a name like IMP1000. The new one looks very nice. The capacity is 11000mAh and it charged my iphone more than 7 times. This charger can charge my iPad more than one time.

Yeah, I agree the name doesn't really add to their story much but cool product though. I want them to start making a charger slash car mount holder for their next generation. I'm done using my cup holders

When I first found the IMP880, it seems to have a lot of capacity, but I read a lot of review of the product not working properly. I decided to give a try anyways. BAD IDEA. The product doesn't work as they claim! It's suppose to be able to charge my Iphone at least 5 times, but it seems to be able to only charge it 2 times fully and the third time up to 90% before it dies. I've done several test charges on this with the same results. I highly recommend that you do not purchase this product as, although sometimes it works, it seems that they are sending out too many defective products and that could be yours. Check out the amazon reviews, some guy had 2 defective products sent to him before receiving a working one. And many others product failed right after the 6 months warrenty. I've asked for a replacement but they asked for $40 to send me one (to cover shipping). Although, their customer service was quick to reply, I think $40 for a replacement of a defective product that they sent is ridiculous, I might as well buy another product.
This was my experience, and I should've listened to the other reviewers. Just giving you a heads up!
