Adobe ImageReady is the typical tool used for this, although it has been discontinued and its functionality has been folded into Photoshop. If you're looking for a simple, free alternative, I've used GIFfun (http://www.stone.com/GIFfun/GIFfun_by_Stone_Design.html) in the past. It's old, but should still work.

You can use Fireworks CS3 for animated gifs like you could in ImageReady.

Here (http://www.creativetechs.com/iq/build_animated_gifs_in_photoshop.html) is a decent tutorial. Just Google "photoshop cs3" and "animation" and you'll get lots of hits that show you how its done.

How big would the file size be, if i made a small animated gif,
flashing around 10 images ?

Well, that depends on a number of things, so it's hard to say. But for reference, my avatar is 100x44 pixels, has nine frames, and is 12 KB.

Taking a look at a couple of other animated gifs I have laying around, I have several at 100x74 pixels, and here are their sizes:

18 frames, 112 KB
37 frames, 160 KB
32 frames, 144 KB
18 frames, 72 KB

Choosing different levels of compression will have a significant impact on your filesizes.
