Last week, the day AFTER His Steveness introduced the new iPods---including the 120GB classic---Toshiba, maker of the 1.8 inch HDD's used in iPods, introduced this!

Not enough people were buying the fat 160GB... so I suspect Apple has consolidated it's Classic line for good, and will only use single-platter discs for now. They would have at least announced a 240GB (if there were delays in getting the drives), but Steve specifically said they were consolidating their product line.

If you want a 160GB, get it while you can, because it might be the biggest iPod out there for perhaps 2 years (if they come out with, say, a 160GB single-platter next September, then it'll be another whole year before something bigger comes, probably).

I think i speak for everyone when i say apple should adopt the 240GB HDD into the iPod classic, it makes so much sense. But deep down, i'm almost 100% positive Apple won't. It's just too perfect. Do what I'm gonna do and just swap out the drives.
