Hi there

I have been using my 1st gen iPhone with a non Apple O2 contract, it is the CPW O2 monthly contract which I got with a Nokia N95 8GB. The iPhone activated in iTunes with no problems (and no extra bills from CPW or O2). Will the iPhone 3G activate in this way? I am thinking about buying an iPhone 3G in the U.S. and cancelling the contract in store so this would cost me about US$420 in total. Just don't want to get it back to the U.K. and find it won't work at all and who knows when the 3G device will be unlocked with PwnageTool.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers, Paul

why would you buy in the US?
its about the same price here for the PAYG version...

buy the payg version
it will be cheaper, after the activation fee, cancellation fee, and flights to america
plus you need to live in the US, as you need a social security number, which UK residents do not have
oh and as the 3g can't be unlocked, if you bought it in the US it wouldn't even work in the UK unless you want to pay roaming fees
