I've got this running on my desktop and my CPU temperature seems to fluctuate between 48 C in the early mornings to 59.2 C midday and evening. These computers have built in temperature monitors and are able to use this freeware.

44.8 C
It's been running since I woke it from sleep about 2 hours ago and running off and on all day now.

You guys might also want to check out ThermoGraphX (sorry for the lack of link). It keeps a log of up to 250 hours before the current time (not including sleep). I like trying to figure out what I was doing by searching back.

That's one thing about Temperature monitor, it'll measure Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. 70C-90C would be 21.1F-32.2F.

My 1.25 GHz G4 tends to sit at about 30-35°. It can get up to about 40° if I'm doing something intensive like a video encode.

PowerBook 1.25Ghz currently sitting at 38.8C. Under normal usage it doesn't get above 40C but in Final Cut or iDVD it can get to 60C easily.

My GeForce2 MX graphics card gets too hot to touch, On warmer days 3D games tend to quit randomly because the card overheats.

if you have any questions, just post them in the forum - I can't imagine anyone giving you half-assed answers. I use the terminal and mc68k's scripts. It runs in the background and I never have to worry about it. Just remember we're team 3446 :D

59.3°C right now, if I'm doing something intense like 3D or gaming I can get it to about 59.7°C, doesn't fluctuate much.

This computer is based on the 'PowerPC 7450' processor. The CPU manufacturer has disabled the Thermal Assist Unit on this chip, so it is not possible to report temperature information.
A feature check executed by the Mach kernel additionally confirms that this processor is not capable of returning temperature values.
A scan of your hardware indicates that there seems to be no alternative temperature sensor available that can communicate with the operating system.
Unfortunately, your hardware does not support temperature monitoring so this application cannot be used.

Ive seen mine as low as 64 degrees and as high as 146 (playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein...matter fact any game). Right now its sitting at a "cool" 106.7 degrees. Also depends on the room temp, as the bottom of the comp acts as a HUGE heatsink.

Might be intensive for you, but Starcraft isn't very intensive as far as the CPU's concerned :)

In order to get the temperature of your CPU, you need to download a program such as temperature monitor (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19994)

Just for comparison,
My AMD Athlon XP 1600+ overclocked to 1.75Ghz runs at between 35C idle and 60C full load.
I got a massive heatsink and a very loud fan (which sucks). I am about ready to get a nice quiet computer since I have to sleep in the same room as my computer.

This small app doesn;t work on my g3 B&W. It saus my hardware is the problem or there is something scr*wed in the software (that narrows it down! :D ). Anyway, a while back you could there was a post which gave several commands in Terminal. One was for the heat sensor. Does anyone know which command that was? If I rember correctly from the old days in os 9 my temperature fo my B&W 400 was only 23 degrees celsius idle. 28 at the most with intensive things! Now that's coolness!

This app doesn't seem to work on my G3 CPU. It gives me my hard drive temperature, which is 123.8ºF (51ºC). ThermographX also doesn't work. I used to use an app called ThermoInDock, but it broke with the 10.3.x update. I think my 400 MHz G3 used to get to 100ºF+ under heavy load.

Dual 1GHz MDD, 2Gig memory, 3 internal hard drives, running Folding 24/7.
Right now it's at 58.6 degrees C (137.5 F). Though, I've modified the fans from spec to reduce noise and I sleep my machine if the room temperature gets too warm---I've seen my machine go up to 64 degrees C.

My Powerbook is 64°C/147°C, and it has never been any warmer than this.
(I'm running thermograph x every time i'm doing heavy work on it..)
Have done some heavy worksloads the last few hours (compiling)...
The fan is only running on low....
The GPU has reached 82°C/179°F !!!! ouch thats hot...
Now five minuttes after i finished the work the cpu is down to 50°C/121°F, i'm running Mozilla, calculator and itunes (without visualizing) on dual screens.

Wow. I have a dual 2.5 GHz G5 and I run around 86 C on both cpus. The fans are mellow. I fold *all* the time. I hear the high end of the original 130nm 970 temperature range is actually the lower range of the 970FX. I've been running this way for 6+ weeks. I consider folding a great burn-in; if it hasn't failed by now, it probably won't.

My iBook typically runs at about 50ºC (122ºF), but at the moment, whilst ripping Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams :D, it goes beyond 66ºC (151ºF) at which point the fan kicks in (which also happens on the rare occasion when I play a game specially Classic games).
