23" Cinema Display suddenly not working; advice?

Hi there,
For some strange reason, my 23" Apple Cinema Display (just past its AppleCare coverage) won't turn on. The little light at the bottom turns on, then dims, when I press the 'on' button... it stays on (dim)... but there's nothing on the screen. Just black. I've tried plugging the USB end into different ports (including directly into my MBP) to no avail.
I've zapped the PRAM, and I've tried the display connector in my wife's powerbook... nothing works.
Any suggestions?

I've talked with an Apple-certified tech, and he essentially told me to buy a new one... he says it wouldn't cost much more than replacing the whole unit inside the display case, which he implied is how he fixes things.
Might try to borrow something, and limp by until the next Displays are released.
