How much music do you have in your iTunes Library? I think I have a lot, but I want to get an idea of what a lot of music is. How much do you have? just attach screenshots to your post of your library stats that are at the bottom of the itunes window. Or just post with the info.
I guess I should go first.:apple:

It is not necessarily "illegaly" acquired…
My own iTunes librar(ies) add up to more than 600GB…
However it is 99% made up of my digitised CD collection (been at it since 1984 — and some albums from the 70s)… all ripped to Apple Lossless.
What I have bought in electronic format is a pretty small amount and accounts for the other 1%.
Oh and there are still a few cartons of CDs (currenty in storage) waiting to be transfered. :o
I just like the convenience of digital and not having to waste the space on that. I use the shelf space for books. :D:D

I cried when I realized they where gone. I only had about 80 in my car, but they were so sentimental :(

That's where probably 97% of my music came from too. I've got several CDs, but only ripped the songs that I actually like or listen to on a regular basis.
And there's more than likely more purchased, digitally-downloaded tracks than I care to admit...

same mission! I have 5 days of unlistened to tracks. Although I have heard most of them on CD I want to hear them and have iTunes put at least one play count up. I also am trying to rate every track. I have 8 days of unrated tracks. I guess that's not that bad since I have about 13.5 days worth of music.

just as a little side note my iTunes tells me I have listened to one single track for around twelve hours. The track is 3 minutes 39 seconds and its play count is 223.

I remember the day that I learned how to do that. I think that it was the day that I got my first 12" Powerbook G4 with 10.4. I was taking screenshots of everything.
By the way, this is kind of sad, I guess, but just yesterday I backed up ALL my music to a single 8.5 GB DL DVD-R. I don't think I have enough music.:apple:

my dad keeps his backed up on an external drive (the whole iTunes library) but I've backed up only the big space-takers like movies (which weigh in at sumo sizes).
I figure if my Mac crashes, it's the end of the world so it doesn't matter if I've got my music backed up or not. ;)

7162 songs, 22.8 days, 179.37 GB Every track is in Apple lossless format.
I still have a few dozen more CDs to rip. Maybe 300+ more tracks
Jazz, Classical, Blues and Rock from the 50's to 90's and some that is more current
Artists range from Led Zeppelin to Leadbelly, Kraftwork to ZZ Top. Portishead, NIN and White Stripes. I may have a complete Dylan discography(?)
1216 tracks are Classical Music and half of those are 20th century composers such as Bartok, Debussy,...
I have a "classic" iPod Mini and a Shuffle and an airport express that drives a pair of four foot tall vintage Infinity speakers

I'm in the process of reimporting everything in Apple Lossless.
The only things that aren't Lossless, are either iTS purchases, or music from artists that released albums on the web (Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Saul Williams etc).

Frankly, I wouldn't advice to give any money to emusic.com - you might experienced some very disappointing experiences: they contract conditions are hidden so that you believe you pay one time the amount you see but you will be surprised to see your credit card debited every month for 6 months ! and there is nothing you can do to cancel this as emusic.com can somehow prove that you agreed for their (hidden) agreement. I call that theft, nothing else! Good choice and good luck !

Something like 64 GB for my iTunes library, and probably 50 of that is music. I've got about 6,000 music tracks, most of them Punk Rock and less than 2 minutes in length so I can cram a lot of them in a small amount of Disk space.

I have 6396 songs in my library, totalling to 28.32 GB on the disk. Pretty much the entirety of my library consists of classical music, a lot of it being Baroque and Renaissance music. There is a considerable portion of "new" music, however, from composers like Shostakovich, Xenakis, and Glass (yes, I'm well aware they have their own sub-groupings in musical canon), and some romantic and early 20th century works (Stravinsky, Ysaye, Debussy). I do also have a CD of world music from the Caucasus (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia) and Ancient Greece and Persia.
