I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I think it's a great concept, and quite well done. However, the second episode that aired this week disappointed me as it rushed through the "mystery of the week" it seemed and was putting too much focus on "developing" the team, and character development. Just my two cents, but I'll definitely stick with it as I think it's gonna turn into a great show if Fox holds onto it for long enough.

I wanted to like this show. I thought it was well made and the special effects were cool, but something about it just kind of sucked. Maybe it was the not so great acting or the stupid "science" (e.g. let's hook a dead woman's optic nerve up to a t.v. set and identify some bridge she was looking at a few minutes before she died). There's a way to make crazy science seem plausible and they haven't figured it out on this show.

Some of the acting seems over done. Ill be watching it and really enjoy it and then some piece of acting happen which seems over done. I know its a new series and new actors so ill give it time. I remember when CSI's acting sucked, but it got better over time.

Ehh, it was OK. I'll keep watching for now.

We've seen this show before though--it's basically X-Files, but instead of the paranormal, supernatural, and aliens it's way advanced technology and pseudo science. The show so far has had the same "freak of the week" type plots that X-Files had. It's a tired idea, and I hope it gets better. I'm not holding out alot of hope though, as I think they'll stick with the FOTW theme.

Just finished season 1. Whoa. It had a slow start, but it finished really well. I look forward to season 2. WTF was up with Peter's grave?

What do you mean by this?

It should be clear by now, that Walther got the current Peter from another dimension, as that was what he was alluding to by saying "he had to do something horrible".

I don't remember the specifics anymore, as the finale has aired quite some time ago, but I liked the ending and am anxious to find out more.

September can't come sooner. Or January. Or life.

I've enjoyed the show and also can't wait until next season. I think the "mad scientist" role is played quite well. Yeah the Peter thing is an interesting plot twist. They have actually done quite a lot of hinting at it throughout the season and if you think back it all makes sense. Walther is always talking about memories that Peter doesn't have. From what they have hinted at it appears that the real Peter died in a car accident he had with Walther when Peter was a boy. They crashed into a river from what I remember. Walther then used the technology he and his partner created to enter the parallel universe and take the "Peter" from there and bring him back. It's the classic motif of grieved individual who goes to drastic measures to restore or reunite with a lost loved one.

Cool show in my book and worth watching. :)

Oh yeah. The whole Peter thing does make sense. I started thinking about him not having certain memories after that scene. Seeing the twin towers in the other alternate universe was just damn spooky too.

So true. Using the towers for any kind of imagery tends to bring on chills and not so pleasant memories. Bringing "Spock" to the cast should also be really awesome. :D

First episode I ever saw was about some killer butterflies that have razor sharp wings that forced some business guy to fall out of a building window.

That's probably a bad first impression, but I changed the channel anyway.

imagine it being the first episode you watched.

"oh, 'fringe'? I wonder what that's about."

"AHHH BUTTERFLIES! *SHRED FLUTTER FLUTTER SHRED* AHHHH *falls out of window* *butterflies flutter away silently*"

Was not too impressed with it, to say the least. I might have to start from the first season and work my way through it tho. :p

The season finale freaked me out! It was so unexpected. This show started as a rip-off of the X-Files, but with that finale found it's own identity. The freaky bald guy always gives me the creeps too.

Was at the panel at Comic-Con 09 for Fringe. The group mentioned there will be some pretty interesting stuff that is coming down the pipe for season two. They eluded to, someone or multipal people seeing them self in the alternate universe!

There were hints also, about how Walter was able to get Peter.

When asked how many more episodes Leonard Nimy(SP?) would be in, they said "As many as he wants!".

That are some of the big things that were talked about............

If you can find it, there is a copy of the newspaper floating around. A complete paper...

Oh... there is also hints that the White House was taken out during an attack... hence "The... move into the NEW White House...." Caption on the front of the newspaper.

The watcher I think is what they are called... the panel wouldn't comment to much about him or the others. So we are left wondering what are they really there for...

I was going to ressurect this thread the other nite.

It looks like Fringe is the new Lost, since the show went from whacky mystery happenings to parallel dimensions and shape shifting warriors.

The season opener was done in typical JJ Abrams style. Lots of mystery and no answers.

I'm a little pissed to see Charlie get replaced by the shape shifter, but...

All in all, it was a positive beginning to a new season!

Here's what turned up in a quick Google search:

What's also interesting is the other headlines:
* Former Pres. Kennedy to Address UN
* Stock Markets Remain Closed - 21 Days & Counting...
* Len Bias (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Len_Bias) Wins MVP

The nod to The X-Files was sort of cool (in the inquiry when the congressman mentioned cases with "the old 'X' designation").

I still inexplicably loathe the CG flying location tags.

Olivia was really overacted in parts but overall I thought the premiere was very solid. And definitely agree about the Location titles... I find myself watching them more than the actual shot.

So the World Trade Towers are still up ... Somehow Sept. 11 prevented the first two planes but maybe the Shanksville, Pa., plane nailed the "old" White House?

Len Bias as MVP? His first year would have been 1986? Who has ever been an NBA MVP 23 years after his rookie season?

I too hated the fact they got rid of charlie... Solid episode I thought. I am curious as to how far the new female agent is going to stay with the group?

Did you also catch the other nod to the X-Files....when they flashed to the TV screen it had Moulder on the screen......

Looking forward to this season!

Things are definitely shaping up to be interesting this season. The Charlie move does seem odd though, especially since they invested so much in his character last season. The early play seems to be that the new FBI girl will be sort of replacing him. I'm surprised to see the show has moved to Thursday night which is a relatively strong prime time weekly spot. After all the talk about the show possibly not making it this new time slot seems to be a positive sign. :)

I wouldn't write Charlie off just yet. Remember that we're dealing with alternate universes here and anything can happen.

I liked the shot of Mulder on the TV. But I also really dug the reference to "the old X classification" (a paraphrase) when the guy in congress was talking about shutting down the FRINGE division.

("Dude," I said to no one in particular, "FRINGE is in the same universe as The X-files!!")

Since it is the same network, it would be really neat if FOX could bring back Duchovney and Anderson to wrap up the 2012 invasion storyline in a FRINGE episode, like they did on X-Files for the Millennium storyline.

But I guess I'm just dreaming here...

It wasn't a particular GOOD wrap-up, so don't get too excited about it...

The wrap up the Lone Gunmen series that also happened in X-Files was a bit better, I think.

Mysterytramp, judging by that newspaper front page, if the Lone Gunmen may be alive in the mirror universe, but would certainly not be called "The Lone Gunmen."

I know, I know, but I just enjoy the show and don't want them to do something crazy and jump the shark in trying to bring back his character. I realize we are talking about an anything is possible multi-dimensional universe, but I hope if they do make it happen that it's plausible, at least by the show's standards. Does that make sense?

Judging form what I've seen this season, it'll be quite some time before this show jumps the shark. Just remember, we only saw Charlie's body, we never saw him actually killed. He could have been taken to the other side and the other side's Charlie killed. That would make for a good return.

I nearly gave up on Fringe about halfway through the first season. It was clearly The Walter Show, and he's too insane to carry a show as more than comic relief. I did not care about Peter and Olivia enough to remember their names at the time. It was monster-of-the-week, and the formula of the show was to have Peter and Olivia have an ultimately pointless chase scene for ten minutes before Walter had a convenient flash of mad scientist insight to incrementally advance the plot in time for the act break. It was a little dull.

I relate all this only so you know where I'm coming from when I say they've fixed that.
