View Full Version : Girls are going to the Apple Store to hit on guys. Really, it's true!

While googling iPhone stuff, I came across two articles in two separate
magazines for girls, that tell girls to go to the Apple Store to hit on guys.
"Can You Pick Up Guys at the Apple Store? You Betcha!
Cosmo sure wasn't lying when they said that Apple stores are a great place to meet men. Last night PartySugar and I ventured out to San Francisco's main Apple store to test their theory. And let me tell you ladies, the place was swarming with men! We instantly noticed the insane guy to girl ratio, as well as the smorgasboard of "international" men. Brits, Germans, Japanese, Brazilian, French, Polish, it was raining men from all over the world. We certainly had our fair share of brow-raising events, including getting followed out of the store!
To see what else unraveled while we were there, click on 'start slideshow' below."
http://www.geeksugar.com/slideshow/1095239
Here's another link to an article in a different girls' magazine, COSMOPOLITAN, that tells girls to go to the Apple Store to hit on guys...
http://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/dating/best-places-to-meet-men
"Seriously though, if you're looking for love, or just want to meet a nice tech-savvy guy, I highly recommend heading to your nearest Apple store pronto! Note: The 5-7p.m. timeslot seems to work well."
So next time you see some cute girl in the Apple Store wandering around and you see that she is looking around a lot and she's been there for over a half hour, you'll know what she might be up to. Lol.

Another reason to go to the Apple Store to exchange your AC power adapter in person.

Lol. Quality. The gf has been giving me grief lately, so I'll be heading down to Regent St soon.
Stands to reason though. I mean the brand is cool, and those who assoicated with are viewed as such, which a lot girls love. You certainly won't see those girls hanging around Dixons or Phones 4U, lol.

the article fails to mention that most of the guys that work/frequent apple stores do not appreciate the female offerings.
reminds me about a girl I used to work with who went to a gay club and was pisssed off that there were 'tons of hot men' there and none of them would give her the time of day. her solution? go back with more girls.
fail.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. If I was looking at some iPhone accessories in the Apple Store and a cute girl started talking to me, I would be happy. :)

Instead I have to wander down the main street, YELLING LOUDLY ON MY IPHONE, with my Computer Science degree sticking out of one pocket and my fat wallet and loads of 100 yoyo bills sticking out of the other and every clothing label sticking out as prominently as I can make it...

And yet the head of Apple Sales is based in Ireland, where basically it handles all the problems of Europe, Africa and some of Asia. Sucks.

One flaw in this plan. If you target a guy in the Apple Store that just dropped $2-3k on a Mac, the chances are good that a) he'll be more interested in getting home and playing with his new toy than you and b) he probably won't have any money left in his bank account to spend on you for a while.
Better to target banks on a Friday where you know that the men are making deposits.

So the moral of the story here is if you're in an Apple store for over 30 minutes and you're female then you're clearly trolling for dudes?
I guess if I wanted to date a teenager who spends most of his time on MySpace and can't actually write an entire sentence without using "lol" or "rofl", then yeah. The Apple store is the place to troll.

The last 2-3 times I've gone in (Palo Alto store), I've been hit with small talk by the guys although one guy really tried too hard. I was looking at bluetooth headsets and it went something like:
Him: So, looking for Apple stuff, huh?
Me: Yup. (Obviously?)
Him: Thats a great headset. I have one and even with the top down on my M3 I can hear crystal clear.
Me: Oh, cool.
Him: I think I've seen you in here before.
Me: Hmmmm...
Him: Do you want to grab some coffee sometime?
Me: Maybe next time, I'm heading back to work.
Tip for you guys, be genuine and don't try to impress. It'll have the reverse effect.

:D I'm gay and I have a very keen/accurate gaydar. I will definitely agree with you on the staff front - there certainly does seem to be a higher than average spread of gay:straight in every Apple Store I've been to. However, I definitely don't agree about the customers. No, you're much more likely to find men in there that look and act like extras out of Chuck, which brings me onto...

Did you read what you just wrote? San Francisco is the gay Mecca! They have one of the biggest gay pride parades in the country. The rainbow flag was developed by a San Francisco artist. Of course there's going to be an inordinate amount of gay men there. Liking Macs is not the equivalent of having a hanky hang from your pocket.
That's a pretty big stereotype that you guys are labeling on the Mac community. I own a Mac, does that make me gay? Gay people like Macs and straight people like Macs, I don't think either category is underrepresented.

Yes, I'm aware of what I wrote. I live in San Francisco and I am aware there is large gay population here, but no more so than other large metro areas. It seems like there are a lot of gay dudes/chicks here because SF is so liberal there is absolutely no stigma for being out openly gay.
It's no secret that gay dudes like cute and stylish things. Apple products are cute and stylish, so of course lots of gay dudes will be drawn to apple products, why is that so hard to accept? No one is saying that if you own a mac you're gay. I have a lot of gay friends, and most of them own macs.

There is not a larger gay population than other "metro-areas", "it just seems like that?"
please, do your research because now that you are aware of what your saying, it doesn't really make any sense.
"According to the 2005 American Community Survey, San Francisco has the highest percentage of gay and lesbian individuals of any of the 50 largest U.S cities, with 15.4%.[114] San Francisco also has the highest percentage of same-sex households of any American county, with the Bay Area having a higher concentration than any other metropolitan area.[115]"
taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco,_California
Here it is more in depth, Personally I am not gay/lesbian but have many friends that are. San Francisco is a GREAT place, very peaceful in large part to their gay community. Please do not come on here saying things that are obviously false, just because you may feel insecure in living in a highly dense gay community.

Don't tell me to do my research when you don't know what you're talking about. SF has a population of ~750k. Manhattan has ~2.8m. If you really think there are more gay people living in SF than in Manhattan, you need to get a clue.
The whole "SF is a gay mecca" is a retarded meme perpetuated by tourists because they don't think gay people live back home where they're from, but in reality, they do. They're just no out. SF is the most liberal city in the US, there is no stigma whatsoever to be gay and out here, so of course if you look around it seems like there are a lot of gay people out and about.
Finally, dont tell me that I'm insecure about living in a city I've lived in for nearly my entire life. Unlike you, I'm open minded enough to realize that gay people are significant part of this country's entire population, not just concentrated in specific "gay meccas."

But... he clearly does know what he's talking about, he cited two factual sources; whereas you only made assumptions based on population.
After following the links he posted, other metro areas are only a few percentage points behind. That difference can easily be attributed to the fact that those surveys are self selecting to a certain degree. All they prove is that San Francisco has a higher percentage of people who are willing to openly admit to being gay on a survey than other cities. If other major metro areas were as progressive and liberal as San Francisco I'm sure the percentages would be the same.

So, I was at the Apple Store earlier today, and this chick tried to hit on me:
I later found out that she was an Apple Store employee, and these are their new outfits.

wait, wait, wait
There is not a larger gay population than other "metro-areas", "it just seems like that?"
please, do your research because now that you are aware of what your saying, it doesn't really make any sense.
"According to the 2005 American Community Survey, San Francisco has the highest percentage of gay and lesbian individuals of any of the 50 largest U.S cities, with 15.4%.[114] San Francisco also has the highest percentage of same-sex households of any American county, with the Bay Area having a higher concentration than any other metropolitan area.[115]"

Here it is more in depth, Personally I am not gay/lesbian but have many friends that are. San Francisco is a GREAT place, very peaceful in large part to their gay community. Please do not come on here saying things that are obviously false, just because you may feel insecure in living in a highly dense gay community.

I switched servers and my email was down for days so I forgot about this thread. Thanks for picking up the slack in the interim. :)
Great. The girls you can pick up at the Apple store talk like Sarah Palin. :(
Ewww!
There's not much stigma about it here either. It's not hard to tell when someone is gay. Besides, the gay mecca thing is perpetuated by the gay community, not the tourists. If that were true, Key West would be the definitive gay mecca. They're just as open about it, if not more.
Finally, dont tell me that I'm insecure about living in a city I've lived in for nearly my entire life. Unlike you, I'm open minded enough to realize that gay people are significant part of this country's entire population, not just concentrated in specific "gay meccas."
No one said that there aren't a lot of gay people everywhere else. Of course there are. It's not like being born in San Francisco makes you gay. But, it doesn't have anything to do with how open they are. The fact is that the gay population is higher in San Francisco than anywhere else in the U.S.
Its hanky code all over again !! See I heard that the colour of the nano you own indicates the 'activity' you prefer to engage in...
A retro flashback in the modern era
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Apple worship means you're gay ? What a load of twaddle.
I already alluded to this, thank you! ;)
What exactly is a roller derby?
Wow. I thought it was becoming popular again. I already knew a few girls doing it. The real question is what happened to the slanted tracks!?
