I need your opinion on a small name change for our 'iNap' application (as featured on macrumors & gizmodo ;))

Ever wanted to get some sleep during a train ride, or a quick powernap on the bus to work? You either hoped to wake just in time not to miss your station, or set an alarm to wake you far too early... Let iNap wake you when you get close to your stop!

iNap is a 'next-generation' travel alarm. Using the GPS in your iPhone it will determine where you are, and wake you when you are close to your destination!

Using the integrated user-friendly Google Maps you determine your destination by typing in an address, city, train-station etc. Determine how far from your destination you want to be woken up (100 meters before your destination? 1km? Up to 100km or Miles? iNap is flexible!) and you are ready to take a nap!

Why: well I basically figured that people are browsing the store looking for interesting apps. But when they read 'iNap' god knows what they think it is (probably another program that provides sounds of birds and rain on a tin roof?) - What is your opinion on this?

Now I noticed that I'm able to change the name trough itunesconnect (I hope this can be done without the links to the itunes page changing) - anyone got any experience with this?

I thought of the following names, but since english is not my native language I need your opinion on what would be the best name to arouse interest and give a description on the program. The name should not be too long since 20+ characters are cut off in the mobile app store.

iNap: Arrival Alert
iNap: Destination Alert
iNap: Awake on Arrival
iNap: Wake on Destination (probably too long)
iNap: GPS Alarm
iNap: Travel Alarm
iNap: Commuters Choice

I like iNap: Wake on Arrival and iNap: Commuter's Choice myself.

I could have used that app when I was working and commuting in NYC. Good luck. :)

BTW, I think travel alarm sounds too much like a regular alarm.

iNap: Awake on Arrival

That is the only choice :D

I'd personally go with iNap: Awake on Arrival. :)

I like GPS Alarm myself -- clearest indicator of what it is.

How about Commuter's Buddy?

Frankly I hate iNap. Actually I hate any name that starts with the lower case i. Those names are for Apple. Anyone who uses those names outside of Apple has no creativity.

One more thing: you seem to think that app names follow some kind of mathematical law that must explain clearly in twenty characters or less what the app does. What does Word explain? How about Excel? Those names don't explain anything. They are memorable though. That's what you want. What does iPod mean? Why name a computer after a kind of Apple? Who knows but it's memorable. Name your app Exploding Jelly Bean or Tiger's Eye or Hairy Navel or something else that comes to your mind. People will remember those names.

Oh yeah, and having a colon in your app name, plus starts with a lower case i, that's the worst. It's like iNAP: the empire strikes back or iNAP : revenge of Khan.

OK, I'll stop now.

Agreed, although we chose to call our app iBinaryClock as some swine had already taken up the name Binary Clock with their crappy free version and choices of name are pretty damn limited when it comes to a binary clock lol.

By the way jolla I wish you success with your new app, it's a pretty cool and unique idea
