cydia and installer question

when i used to use my iphone v1 hacked a long time ago there was only installer and you had to add sources. now does anyone still use installer or is cydia the new thing, can you add sources to cydia, if u can where can i find some names of sources?

Adding custom sources in Cydia is pretty pointless right now. All of the useful, stable software is already in the "official" repositories.
