logging into a windows network?

My school runs a network where win xp pro computers can be used to log into the network to access the campus harddrive. Is there a way to do this for macs?

Excalibur313 Probably. However, before anyone can give you a definitive answer, we will have to know the nature of the network that the WinXP clients are used to access. Then there is the question of what exactly it is that those clients area accessing. If they are running Windows applications off the server, then there is little reason for a Mac user to care. If they are accessing your school's database, then this should be of interest to you if there is a Mac client for the database. If the database is Windows-only, then Mac users are locked out. If the server is used for central storage of user files such as word processing documents, Acrobat format education materials and such like, then the Mac should have no problem. The short answer is that you have not given us enough information to give you anything more than a guess.

Basically they give us a folder which we can dump stuff into and access it from anywhere on campus. I want to set up that folder as sort of an extra harddrive or folder than i can dump stuff into from my computer and go to a different computer to get it out of.
