Well, technically I paid for it but consider it a rebate type of deal. I made a appointment at the genius bar and told them my 2g iphone was acting up and they offered to replace it with a new iphone 2g. So rather than take it all out of the nice plastic and such, I purchased a 3g that day and put the new 2g on ebay and sold it for $300! So needless to say I got my new iphone 3g paid for plus I made some extra cash.

Well since you took the time to open it and browse mac rumors and took the time to post which used another 20 seconds, I believe that you don't need the 20 seconds, or 30 seconds, or years, or decades for that matter.

Yes, I do want a cookie. Hopefully you're mother can bake the same type she baked the last time I was over.

You drew me in with your title, and I was intrigued by how someone might obtain a free iPhone 3G. The title made me think it might be spam, which I would report to the mods. Then I read your story, found out you were just bragging, and realized what a waste of time it was. The reason I took the time to post is to suggest to others to not waste our time with useless, boasting posts. The "I want my __ back" is simply an expression. Hopefully this minute or two I'm using to post now is an investment into the future for no further threads of this type.

I really don't mean to be an ass, but in this instance, I feel it's called for.

I didn't post this to brag, it was more of a post to enlighten and if other people had the 2g and couldn't afford the 3g that here is a way to get it. Maybe I should have posted "I am not bragging, this is just a tip." at the end.

Maybe a more appropriate title would be, "I upgraded my 2g to a 3G for zero net cost."

I sold my Moto Q9h on eBay for $240, so my 3G was only about $60 net cost for the same reason.

If i were a mod, i'd bring down the ban hammer real fast here, Apple-AppStore-rejection-letter style.

I guess it's a good thing i am not. :p
