Love or Hate?

I am on the fence between a MBA and MBP.

Just want to gauge how many here are happy and how many are disappointed in their MBA purchase.

I love mine, but…

It'll never be a MBP, my MBA is a solid on the road alternative to my iMac, but it couldn't be my only computer. Of course that's just my opinion.

Love it, wouldn't buy it though, just doesn't fit my needs.

love mine, however would not buy it. I am experiencing the core shut down and used coolbook to fix it. Apple's firmware fix is not for me. I love how light it is, but next time, I would get an MSI Wind (linux or orx hack) and a macbook for power user needs.

I love my Air. I don't watch a lot of flash videos on it but when it comes to watching college students drink and getting drunk of their ass, my Air and Tractor Scratch get the job done.

is it really the best? how so? i'm contemplating getting one or a new macbook.

My main criteria is portability and ability to handle safari, adium, itunes, and word or spreadsheets at the same time. I already have a mac pro at home for heavy work.

Me and my niese bought one each (she took the MB Pro, and left me with the Air).... I have never owned any MAC product before. Up until last week i got an iphone, and i decide to get one.

I have owned a number of laptop (windows os), Toshiba, LG, Compaq and mainly DELL (thin one).... Lastnight i took it out set it up, hook up to my wireless and it work great... Nice looking laptop and very nice design.

I must say people who need just a laptop for internet emailing and surfing the internet and abit of listen to music or watch movies. It'll do that job.

But if you want it to do like photoshop, graphic, design webpage or movie editing, it abit too slow for it....

Again it all come to personal taste, and personal preference.

My 1.83GHz CoreDuo Macbook with 2GB RAM can handle all those things easily. A 1.6 or 1.8 C2D will be more than fine.

It all depends on what you are going to do with it. My wife "upgraded" from her MBP to the Air. Loves it. Named it. But.... she is a researcher/writer/analyst who uses it for MS Office, Internet research, PDFs. And she travels - and that is the big point (and what I believe the Air was designed for.) All of the things that others have decried as being "sacrificed" (ports and processing power, etc) means she has a system that she can now carry around all day in a conference setting, and use wherever she is - rather than having to leave in the hotel room because of its size and weight. It does everything she needs, and most importantly - that ability is now available whenever she needs it simply because she can now carry it around.

The MBP now stays at home as her desktop system (in essence).

If you travel, the Air is for you - probably as a 2nd system. If you want it as your main system, unless your needs are light - its probably not for you.

Just love mine! single USB port has never been a problem, never had core shut down and heat not an issue. It replaces my old 12" G4 which was heavy and bulky in my pack in comparison, and the bigger screen and keyboard are a lot easier on the eyes and hands.
