To start let me say that I have never applied or tried to apply any hack of any kind to my iPhone, it was "as purchased".

In the interest of brevity let me say that a manual update was the only way to do the update at this time.

When I applied the update the iPhone disappeared from iTunes and has since only displayed a "connector" and "an iTunes" symbol when turned on!?

Is there a fix that anyone knows of other than taking it in to Apple??

Disconnect from computer and reconnect. That should convince iTunes to try again.

I've tried that more than once... iTunes acts like it's not there and the phone makes no response either.

Try holding Sleep and Home to restart the phone, then reconnect. Also, try another USB port.
