I sorely need a new speaker set up, and the jbl creature speakers look perfect. but there is one problem. you see, i don't want to have cables spewing out of the headphone port on the front of my g5. the g5 has optical and regular audio out on the BACK. will the speakers be able to use these?

are you sure? they label the audio port on the ipod dock "line out" and the port on the back of the g5 "line out" and my headphones work with the ipod's "line out" so why wouldn't "line out" and headphone jacks be the same?

Yes you can use the port on the back. Technically the G5 has two headphone jacks. A port labeled line out typically indicates line-level out meaning the power output does not vary and it's set at I believe 500mv. I could be wrong on this. In any case the port on back carries the same sound properties as the headphone jack on the front.
