Since I hide my taskbar and icons, I'll just post my desktop pattern.

BTW, no I didn't just call the dock a taskbar, I'm still stuck in Vista land until there are HD4870 drivers for OS X. Until then, I'll keep on enjoying my games :D Until I have HD4870 drivers for OS X, then its darwine (or something like it) for me!

I actually posted my thread at 11:54 PM, I was meant to post it at 12:00 AM to make it October 1 :D. And to the person who replied to my original thread "And, I know you didn't have a computer next to you...Couldn't wait to get home pfffft, get in the thread started position..."...You absolute cow. I deleted a system file on my mac by mistake with SSH from my iPhone, rendering it unbootable. I am now using Boot Camp until Sat. Then I can get my external drive and Reinstall EVERYTHING. I should do that to your computer and criticize you for posting a thread 6 mins before a correct time specified my me. (End Rant :D)

Anyway. For my October: (A WINDOWS VISTA DEFAULT :(:o:mad::mad::mad::mad::eek: - I don't know how to change it :D)

When you're in a finder window.. press apple+j, an info page should pop up and you can select whatever picture you want as the background on the bottom

The calendar is a script from GeekTool.. a quick google should give you a better idea.

Awesome, thanks for the kind words, I wasn't sure at first but I'm starting to like it more (since I had to pic from about 60 simialr shots, it's hard to know which picture is "the opne")

Sure do...However few of them I would consider to be wallpaper material or "artsy" by any strech. They were primarily pictures I took for to be e-mailed to customers. Also, the lens I was using sucked. Whereas the lens I use now is a 50mm prime, much sharper.

In 1982, I was in the Canadian Naval Reserve when I graduated from high school. The US Navy wanted me to enlist and then become a US Citizen. That is where I made the stupidest mistake of my life - I went to university in Canada instead.

The U.S. Navy has issued to me a U.S. Social Security number and I was ready to enlist, but I changed my mind as mentioned above. I regret that decision to this day. When I moved to the U.S. in 2002 to be with my American-born wife, that SSN was still valid but never used before by me. For that reason, the Social Security Administration promptly reissued me a new card because I was becoming a U.S. Permanent Resident. Soon, I am filing for U.S. Citizenship naturalization. I can't wait either, because I have always known my destiny is here in the U.S.

I wish I would have joined the U.S. Navy even at 32, because stupid me joined the Canadian Army at that time and got permanently disabled. Now I have to walk with a cane for the rest of my life.

Anyone who has been at sea understands this... I miss being at sea so much.

HawaiiMacAddict... I have been on many ships as well, but I have always enjoyed going on American naval ships because they are always nicer IMHO. :) The last ship I was on was the USS Reuben James. I have never been on an aircraft carrier though, but I have seen them at sea. Beautiful! :) Personally, I prefer destroyers because I have been on several of them.

Posted earlier in the thread. Just follow the directions in the first link, double click the menubar icons you want. I used iStat Menu for the clock and battery (unfortunately I'm not sure how to get the spotlight icon inverted). It'll be a black menubar initially, but if you go into System Preferences/Desktop & Screensaver and check/uncheck 'translucent menu bar' it'll turn it grey. I like it either way.

I can tell you that that is Dropbox. (https://www.getdropbox.com) It is an online storage space (like the iDisk) only it is 2GB for free, and I believe you can pay for more. I am pretty sure that it is out of beta now so you can just go and sign up. If not PM me, and I can send an invite.

I have Mobile Me and I find myself using Drop Box, because it is faster to sync. Also I mapped a folder to it using ln -s and though I haven't tried that with MM yet it works wonderfully in my Drop Box.

Yep. I have a ~/Applications folder which has several categories, including Games. I used to have folders in the Dock for all sorts of groupings, but I never used them, so I gradually weeded them out.

Search for Mac OS X HUD theme. I forget the actual site I got it from now, but it's around at a few places. The same theme is applied to my Force Quit dialog as well, plus at least one other thing I can't remember.
