It is just as cool and fashionable and historic as Italy, it is just that people don't generally realise it.
Terrific art, architecture, history, good music, great coffee and wine and food, stunning scenery and fantastic looking (and yes, great fun) people.

My understanding is that, for reasons too complex to delve into here, those Spaniards who find themselves domiciled in those parts of the terrain that have been pummeled into uniform elevation by the twin forces of erosion and plate tectonics suffer disproportionately from this very phenomenon.
