Wow, is there any other examples of a company including something huge like that in a product, but not telling anyone?

BS. A camera would have been easily found when the thing was ripped apart on launch day by all the geeks that do that kind of thing.

At the bottom of the article it says it was posted on July 28th.

Why is this now news?

It's also bull, obviously.

a front facing camera would have been a great selling point, why would they spend the money to add it and then hide it. Does not make sense does it.

Seriously. Are they joking or what? They are talking bout a sensor near the earpiece and prove it by linking it to a patent describing LCD screens which can not only output images but also act as a camera too:confused:.

That patent is old news for any one who follows MacRumors. And since iPhone 3G didnt have a camera for video conferencing it is quite possible that Apple might never put a front facing camera in the iPhone. Current 3G video calling and even online video conferencing is just not good enough coz you cant have any sort of eye contact as the camera is placed above/below the screen, not behind it. It`d be really great if Apple can actually create such a screen. That would be true video conferencing.

They are just waiting to patent the special coin that will help you scratch away the plastic covering it. Careful, don't use a regular coin or you'll turn it from a camera to a proximity sensor!

LOL. It takes "hackers" to discover this. I think they "discovered" the 3rd proximity sensor right after the release, then "discovered" it wasn't a camera and have been in hiding since.

If you have a bright enough light shining on the surface of your 3G iphone, you'll see three little circles to the left of the earpiece. One of them clearly is the ambient light sensor, the other the proximity sensor. As for the third.... is this the explanation?

Don't read the post above yours or anything crazy like that.
