Well, to her credit at least she knew that Ferraro was just a candidate.
But her followup answer was worse...Bush Senior had plenty of government experience prior to becoming VP, so he was probably schooling Reagan on how the federal government works as much as Reagan was schooling him on executive experience.
Plus there are so many better choices than Bush.

Bush Sr. was also effectively the President briefly following the attempted assassination on Reagan, and looking at the changes of White House staff afterwards it could be argued that he never fully gave the reins of power back.
