I recently upgraded my ram (4 gigs of G.Skill, if anyone was interested) and was looking into getting a 7200 RPM hard drive. The selection on new egg for 7200RPM 2.5, SATA 1.5 hard drives is limited to Hitatchi. I'd prefer a seagate or western digital. There are how ever an abundance of 7200 RPM 2.5 SATA 3.0 drives. I've read these are backwards compatible but sometimes you need to hit a jumper on the the motherboard. Was wondering if I need to do this for a macbook or will it automatically just downgrade it self to a 1.5 speed?

Most (if not all) SATA drives have their own jumper to downgrade them to 1.5Gbps speed. No need to do it on the motherboard.
