Clue 3 Out, The "Brick" Is the "MacBook Brick"

The site that keeps teasing us with the "Brick" rumor has finally gave us two more clues. First, it's the "MacBook Brick". That means that it's probably a Mac tablet, a Mac netbook, or maybe even another laptops that's a step up from the MBP (unlikely, though). They've also posted another clue (this isn't the actual notebook, it's just a "clue" from them):

I think the brick means "solid state".

I think it will feature exclusively solid state memory, in capacities from 16 to 128, and possibly higher.

But I think solid state will also be a metaphor for the whole machine. It will be built more like an iPhone than a traditional laptop.

I'm wondering what they will do for size, I would actually be surprised if it's not 12" or smaller.

LED display is probably a good guess, though that might be optional.

Some guesses, I do believe there's the potential for some very interesting things.

Oh, you're so wrong.
It really is a brick, a power brick (for the Macbook). This time around you will not only get a frayed magsafe, you get a magsafe AND powerbrick in tingly aluminium to go with it!

It gets better, though – you will notice that the brick is rather unfinished. This time around, they will forego putting lipstick on the pig, and actually advertise the shoddy build quality. Yes, I kid you not: They will market it as the "new green Macbook": So green, that we didn't use electricity to produce the anodising, nor chemicals to clean the alu beforehand (not that we cleansed our alu books much before, mind you). All this will come at a slight premium, though: only 400$ above current prices! But you DO get a greener Apple. And who doesn't like a juicy green Apple, right? RIIGHT!?

According to 9to5mac, it's a manufacturing process. So no confirmation of my other speculation, but it sounds like I was correct guessing it would be built more like an ipod.

It may be wrong, but I liked the theory that one of the sites had that "brick" really meant brick through Windows,as in breaking through to the mainstream, possibly with a sub $1000 notebook.

I really don't care about the price point as it stands now, but that seemed like a better theory than AC adapters. I kinda doubt Apple would make a big deal about something as mundane as that.

Interestingly, I was off on the hardware, but pretty much spot on with the brick concept. Though SSDs do seem to be an option across the board now.

A little disappointed about the price, but that seems to be the way it goes with Apple. :)
