I have installed a second HD in my G5 Powermac and it does not read it??

it seems properly connected and seating in the B slot, but the computer is not showing it at all.

Not sure what i am doing wrong!!

If anyone can help, thanks for your time!!
 
Have you used Disk Utility to see if the second drive has mounted? Next, do you have it set with the jumper to master or slave? Third, what's on the disk, ie. does it have startup facility for your G5? Hold down the Option key when you next restart.
 
Once installed, the drive must be formatted using Disk Utility before it will show up on the desktop or in the start-up options 😱


FYI.....No master/slave settings on SATA drives 😛
 
It does not show on the Disk Utility, so i can't format it

It has not been set up as a master or slave, there is only one way to wire it up.

I am calling the company that i bought it from to check

I will keep you posted!!
