Given the clamor for candidates to make information about their education, health, and history publicly available, I was surprised to hear that several items of information on Obama the media and others have requested have not yet been made available (see list below). Say it ain't so, BO!

1. Occidental College records -- Not released
2. Columbia College records -- Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper -- 'not available'
4. Harvard College records -- Not released
5. Selective Service Registration -- Not released
6. Medical records -- Not released
7. Illinois State Senate schedule -- 'not available'
8. Law practice client list -- Not released
9. Certified Copy of original Birth certificate - - Not released
10. Harvard Law Review articles published -- None
11. University of Chicago scholarly articles -- None
12. Record of baptism-- Not released or 'not available'

8. Law practice client list -- Not released
Isn't that privileged information?

12. Record of baptism-- Not released or 'not available'
Why is this relevant?

Because it's proof he's a muslim ARGH!

Why don't the mods here delete such kind of posts?

Edit: mkrishnan...I hope you are taking notes!!

Didn't his medical records appear on The Daily Show a few weeks back?

I don't think there's any need to delete what's obviously a shallow chain email designed to scare people. Better to just ignore it/discuss it/call it for what it is. Either way it's best not to let it get to you - it's what mgguy is trying to do. Check his PRSI post history if you're unaware of his history.

Given the slimy netherworld in which the McCain campaign operates, I can understand why Obama might be reluctant to release some of these documents such as the college records. They'll seize on anything that looks the slightest bit amiss and magnify it to suggest that he's Muslim, radical, communist, whatever. Just look at what they did with his Bill Ayers "connections", which was a matter of mountains and molehills (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/politics/04ayers.html).

Keep in mind that McCain only released his own medical records for an hour. An hour. Has he released all the personal records that his supporters are demanding from Obama?

Did you see how long they were! He's being kept alive by robotics and some Uranium based compound. He's actually very toxic.

I don't see why any candidate should release their medical records period. Nothing could be more private and not fit for the world to troll through. I can understand why people might be interested in seeing them, but they are really none of our business at all.

This is precisely why every comedic writer, comedian and aspiring comic is going to be secretly voting for the McCain/Palin ticket. The material practically writes itself.

Yeah, Tina Fey had a line like that in 30 Rock: "I will tell all my friends that I'm voting for Barack Obama, but I will secretly vote for John McCain."

The scary part is that she said that in April of 2007, over a year before anyone knew that those two would win the primaries. The bets were probably on Giuliani vs Hillary at the time.

His birth certificate has been released.

Now, when will McCain release his POW records that talk about exactly what he did during those years in prison?

I agree with you, those records should be released if they haven't been, unless they are considered classified. But I doubt you would get much on how he reacted to interrogators, since they probably didn't take copious notes and probably had a slightly biased point of view, as his captors.

I see no reason why most of this stuff needs to be released...

Call the Vietnamese government. I'm sure that they'd be absolutely pleased to give you their records of torturing foreign servicemen.

Client records would never be released. Birth cert is already released/verified. Found his voting records/schedule. Two weeks ago UIC (http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/08/illinois_releasing_barack_obam.html) released his records and it was all over every rag, even Fox News. The rest is questionably relevant such as Selective Service because this was already verified in order for him to gain his Senate position (duh), and obviously his undergraduate studies were pored over by Harvard, his later employers, his constituents, etc etc. Come on.

It's only stupid because it's your candidate, and makes you blind to expected procedures. Releasing these records would help us better understand who the mystery-man Barack Obama is. There seems to be so many questions about his ethnicity, faith base, life as a child, etc.

His ethnicity? His father was from Kenya and his mother was from Kansas.

His father wasn't born into a muslim family but converted.

Any more questions on that point?

Could you please explain what a "faith base" is? Sounds like a limbaughism.

What does his childhood have anything to do with it? Are you implying that he's responsible for the decisions his parents made?

At least Obama was born in the US...

If Barack Obama is a mystery man to you, then you simply don't want to know him.

Oh, please. It's all what you want to know about the candidates. I don't vote candidates, I vote platform. And I'm much more scared of the fear-mongering that goes on with the liberal platform than the conservative. It's just a lesser of two evils. (evil being the low-lifes that are politicians/lawyers)

Not clear on what you mean, but a person is only as good as those around him/her. To tell me one person is going to run the country on his or her specific beliefs and just not believable. Money is what makes the world go 'round!

Just like any politician, he's being painted for who his marketing firm wants you to believe he is. If we have actual facts from his life, we know more about the real person. He does have a traditionally Muslim name, and no one is real sure about his racial makeup...not to mention the hate-mongering that goes on at his (former?) church.

Palin is open about her life, but the liberals still can't stand her even though she should be celebrated for being a strong, successful woman.

People are clear about his racial makeup. We know who his father is, and we know who his mother is? How many generations back do you demand to know his racial makeup?

Traditional Muslim name ≠ Muslim.

Sarah Palin isn't open about anything. She refuses to take questions in a press-conference style setting. She doesn't give a clear answer to anything. Not to mention the hate-mongering that goes on at her church, while she is present, I might add.

Are you serious?

He was named after his Kenyan father; he's technically a junior, though since his entire contact with his father since age two was one month, he doesn't use the suffix, for obvious reasons.

The only thing "mysterious" about his racial makeup is on the white side. Gee, what are they?

As for his former church, I'm thinking you may not want to go there, especially since Palin has talked adoringly about how Pastor Muthi (so?) prayed over her, referencing the time that he prayed for her to win the governorship and to protect us all from witches. puhlease.

Firstly I'm struggling to see what the problem would be with him being a Muslim, even if he was. And why does his racial makeup matter?

Secondly, from what I've seen Palin is completely out of her depth – what's the use of being allegedly open about your life if you can't function as a politician, let alone vice president or president?

I keep seeing thread after thread regarding this election bitching about the most irrelevant issues possible. It seems that a lot of people have their priorities in the most bizarre places.

Quote of the thread. ;) Now normally, just having a name that rhymes with Osama would be enough, but this is proof incontrovertible.
