Drivers license says hazel.
I find them to be greenish at times, and brownish at other times.
Sometimes they are a swirl of brown and green.
Is that the definition of hazel?

i Have quite distincly different coloured eyes, blue & brown.. although the blue one tends to be greener during summer months. I swear my mum poured bleach in my eyes when I was young.. sadly innocent until proven guilty over here.. and i have zero proof. :'(

What is considered the dominant eye color worldwide? Isn't it brown? What does this poll say about Mac users? Interesting...

Mine are exactly the same.

Now, blue should not be leading this. Aren't the blue eye genes the weakest (or whatever the genetic opposite of "dominant" is) of the bunch?

I have a theory: People with blue eyes are more apt to participate in this poll than those without blue eyes are. Perhaps people with blue eyes are prouder of their eye color than other people.

My theory.

According to the dictionary, Hazel is a light yellowish-brown color. Damn, I always thought Hazel was blue-green! My eyes are a deep green but can be bluish depending on what I'm wearing.

Now as an adult I realize that my mom always told me my eyes were hazel because her *own* eyes were hazel. Looking at her eyes closely, they're basically yellow and don't resemble mine that much.

So now I've basically taken to just saying my eyes are green, since that is mostly accurate and generates the least confusion.

My eyes range from ocean blue to steel gray, depending on a lot of things. My mood seems to affect it somehow, when i'm tired/depressed/upset my eyes turn gray, lose all color. When i'm in a good mood, or the weather is nice, they're blue. it's weird. Yes, other people have noticed, i'm not imaging it :)

Since they spend half their time gray, i chose "other".

Sidenote, i am able to wiggle my eyes-- make them vibrate or convulse very fast back and forth. i read a medical explanation of this once, a certain percentage of the population can do it. apparently you can rip the muscles right out of your eye if you do it too much tho...

I think it's sociological - Blue eyes reflect a certain caucasian part of the population that still holds a certain standard of wealth in most western countries today (bond hair blue eyes is still largely considered aesthetic by society, and is a combination that is not usually associated with poverty), and as we are mostly wealthy enough to afford Macintosh computers and to spend gobs of time on the internet talking about our eye color, we are a direct reflection of that strata of society.

Green eyes.

My eyes are in a constant "wiggling" state, known as nystagmus. I don't try to do it, and it doesn't blur my vision unless my eyes are really tired or I have a headache. Apparently when people are drunk, a similar thing happens.

"I find them to be greenish at times, and brownish at other times.
Sometimes they are a swirl of brown and green." <- - - -mine are exactly like that ^____^! But lately, I've found mine to be flat out green most days...

"According to the dictionary, Hazel is a light yellowish-brown color. Damn, I always thought Hazel was blue-green!" <- - - -it is...the dictionary is refering to the color of a hazelnut, and that definition does not apply to eyes; hazel eyes are a mixture of green and brown, sometimes with some gold mixed in around the pupil (like mine), and sometimes with some blue mixed in (like mine on some days)...

"Now, blue should not be leading this. Aren't the blue eye genes the weakest (or whatever the genetic opposite of "dominant" is) of the bunch?" <- - - -actually, no. Green and grey eyes are the most rare of all the eye colors, as a matter of fact.

So yeah, in case you haven't already figured it out, my eyes are hazel.

Brown, though at times they get a bit hazel-ish...'course I could just be ill at those times.

"Now, blue should not be leading this. Aren't the blue eye genes the weakest (or whatever the genetic opposite of "dominant" is) of the bunch?" <- - - -actually, no. Green and grey eyes are the most rare of all the eye colors, as a matter of fact.

Plus the fact that just because a type of gene is dominant does not necessarily mean it is the most commonly found type.

from Wikepedia:

Hazel eyes
Hazel is usually used to describe eyes that contain elements of both green eyes and brown eyes. Some hazel-eyed people have irises which transition from green at the edges to a light or darker brown near the center.
