Ephraim Schwartz is the one in need of a Reality Check here. He seems incredulous that Apple is building what his customers are asking for instead of attacking the enterprise space with a frontal assault. For now, XServer, XGrid and XRaid are being driven by Pixar, so what? In the meantime how many universities do you think will get their own Super Computing system for less than $10 mil in the next year or two? would you rather sell serviers into the IT space 5 or 10 at a time or 1500 to a university? or two? or ten!?
Eventually, Apple will partner up with a HP or IBM to push for the enterprise space but not until the enterprise comes a knocking, not the other way around.
