hey,
i have a problem with my macbook, each time i unplug it from the power adapter it instantly switches off as if its a desktop :S it says it has loads of battery left, it never used to do this, why would it now? the only change ive made was using an external screen...
any help would be great

just went into about this mac and more info, looked under power and it says:
'Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 3592
Fully charged: Yes
Charging: No

now i may be a complete idiot, but i know thats not good :(

Well it looks like your battery died. I would suggest you take it in to an Apple store and see if you can get a replacement. If its not over a year old it should be free.

Looks to be a bad battery - fully charged should be around 5000 mA.
Might be worth calibrating it - but sounds like it is dying - any warranty left - all worth calling Apple since they have replaced many MacBook batteries (in and out of warranty).
If you are using an external display are you not supposed to use the mains adaptor all the time....

ill go down to the apple shop tomorrow, when using external screen its plugged in but when i take the mac around with me, it cant be plugged in...
i think my warrenty ran out about a month ago :(, likely they will change it anyway?

Would be even better if it just didn't need repairing, twice.

true..... but cant really help a few problems with products such as laptops that are portable and get all types of abuse..
imo i think apple have built the macbook very well, seems solid compared to alot of PC laptops ive used

I am having the exact same problem and am out of warranty as well. Did you call apple first and then take it in? Just want to know since your method seemed successful. Thanks in advanced
