Splitting ripped video

I did a quick search on this, so sorry if it's been answered!

I have a DVD of Weird Al Yankovic videos that I ripped to my computer. I'd like to split them up into each individual video using iMovie, but it won't let me import the video into a project. I created an m4v format file, which I thought would work, but it doesn't.

Any suggestions would be great.

SimpleMovieX (http://homepage.mac.com/getclockworks/) software should split your m4v files.

Otherwise you can only re-encode them with Quick Time Pro (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/) or MPEG Streamclip (http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html) to an iMovie compatible format like a DV stream (.dv)
