Hey everyone,

I have two macbooks, the first one is a two and half year old white macbook, and the second one is a brand new black macbook.

I would like to install XP on the white one. Unfortunately, the internal dvd player is dead. I tried installing XP with an external dvd player, and with the black macbook's dvd player (firewire). But it didn't work.

What I have tried next is putting the wite macbook's harddrive into the black macbook, and installing XP from there. And it works great !
But when I tried to put the hard drive back into the white macbook, xp launched fine, but the touchpad and keyboard did not work anymore :(

Does anyone have an idea on what I could do to make it work ?

Cheers,

Toumar

You can try to fix this by letting Windows switch the driver assigning from "trackpad" to USB Human Interface, and then back to "Apple Trackpad".

Hook up an external USB mouse, and via the hardware devices etc. change the drivers for trackpad to USB Human Interface and then back to the now recognised Apple Trackpad.

Have you tried installing the Boot Camp drivers?

Hi there,

Usb devices such as usb mouse or keyboard don't work either :( I cannot interact with windows xp in any way.

The weird thing is when I shut down the macbook while xp is loading, and when I reboot, I get a windows menu indicating me that there were a problem while loading the OS and giving me a few booting options (normal etc.) and in that menu, the keyboard works just fine !

And when I get on the desktop, I does not work anymore...

Hey DARKJ3DI,

All I know is that I installed Leopard on both macbooks. I assume the latest drivers are loaded, or am I wrong ?

Yes did you install the drivers onto the older hard drive using the leopard OS X disk?

Edit-While in windows put the leopard disk in the superdrive and it will load up the mac drivers for windows

Ok, I'll try that ASAP :)
