Well no probably. I plan on recording it with the Tivo and then fast forwarding to the commercials. It will be an interesting change from fast forwarding past the commercials.

I wont be watching it since it will be Monday the 2nd of Feb here ( we are a day ahead of you guys - and I will be studying). NFL is pretty much a non avent in NZ anyway although a few of the Bars in town will show it on Sky Digital.
I will catch up with the ads later. I will be more interested in see the comments on the mac forums with regards to the sales of Pepsi and the numbers of downloads for iTMS!

Here in Charlotte, people have gone Super-bowl crazy. There are people naming their babies after Panthers, people spending $20,000 plus to go to the game, painting their bodies, cars, and houses Panthers colors, and of course everyone is wearing Panthers hats, coats, jerseys, underwear, you name it. Yeah, I have to admit I'm pretty psyched, too, and I'll definitely watch the game (commercials and all), but I think I'll wait until they actually win the Super Bowl to buy a T-shirt.

Ever since the Packers got knocked-out of the playoffs, I have become totally disinterested in football. I'm more of a Packers fan then a general "football" fan. So, to avoid me wasting my time, I MIGHT watch some.... but I dont' really care now...

American Football is boring.
Whats the point, its stop - start - stop -start. The excessive body armour and helments make the players look like a load of fairies.
Bring on Rugby any day! (Which I presume American football was based on, and significantly watered down).

I don't think it's really all about the football for most guys, it's the fact you can sit with your friends and watch it. I don't know any guys (or girls), of any age, that sit and watch football alone. It's a social thing for me, and it's traditional. My friend Nate and I always watch the SuperBowl together, we have for about 7-8 years. We talk the whole time; we add our own commentary and we laugh at the commercials, the cheerleaders, and the goofy looking fans in full body paint.
Needless to say, I'll be watching!!!!!

Clearly I'm in the minority on this site, but I find football fascinating. It's definitely not as exciting or action packed as soccer (I don't know about rugby), but what's interesting about football is all the planning that goes into each play. It's incredibly sophisticated, and the coordination between players needs to be perfect in order for a play to work.
For a game that appears to be played by a bunch of thugs, it's probably the most complicated, intellectual game out there.

I likely won't watch, or if I do, it will just be bits and pieces. If I could get the U.S. commercials, then I'd definiltely watch, but Canadian stations are allowed to splice in their own crappy local ads.
While you Americans get to see the funny stuff, we get to see ads for used cars and bad furniture stores.

Also, whether anyone likes it or not (and it is the most popular sport in America now) I think that football can actually lay claim to being the most exciting sport because of the way a single play can be both spectacular and turn the game completely around. It's hard to beat, for example, a long pass into the end zone in heavy coverage that ends up in the receiver's arms.
That being said, although I love football, this defensive matchup between teams I care nothing about has not exactly caught my interest. I'll watch some of it, but I have other things to do Sunday afternoon.

I cant stand US football, Rugby (even though we won the world cup) and wrestling (if you can call it a sport). US football and Rugby seem to be to start/stop too much, there is not much flow in the game.
I only like soccer and F1 (although F1 is getting a bit borring now).

It can't be considered a sport because it's scripted. An art form perhaps? Well, maybe.

There are more than that:
Soccer (football to most of the world)
Gaelic football
Australian rules football
Rugby football
American football
Canadian football (basically the same as American but with a larger field and slightly different rules)
Arena football (American football on a field the size of a hockey rink and with slightly different rules).
Actually that might be a pretty good poll topic: Favorite football?

I plan to watch every second of every play in this years superbowl. I've watched almost every monday night game this season, and for the first time I want to see the big game.
I agree with a previous poster that football is a VERY SOPHISTICATED game. Chess is boring to watch if you don't know how to play. Football is extremely interesting if you know the rules, strategy, nuances, and sense of honor inherent in America's New Game.

Hate to point it out, but you've pretty much contradicted yourself there. You say that chess is boring if you don't know the rules, background, etc. However you then go on to say that football is exciting, but only if you DO know the rules, background, etc. Then, the reverse would be true as well - if you DID know the rules for chess, it would be interesting, and if you didn't know the rules for football it would be boring - which makes football no different than chess, although you seem to be trying to say that it does.
I really enjoy football and I really enjoy chess, both for different reasons, so I'm not biased towards one or the other - just found your flawed example above amusing. ;)

I beg to differ also. I know how to play and I find it fun to play but extremely boring to watch. I find this the same with all team sports. Sports that pause in the middle of action are boring to watch plain and simple. That's why motorcycle racing and auto racing are so interesting the only time things pause is when the race is over. If you don't think there are tactics and sophistication to racing then you don't know a thing about it.

Hehe, no offense, but I find that a really funny statement. There's nothing more boring to watch than soccer; hardly anything ever happens, and the most likely way to score is on an unblocked penalty kick. But to each his own.

I grew up in Indy, so I know all about racing. You're right, racing is way more complicated and intense than, say, baseball. But the sheer brute force of a man vs. man contest that is inherent in football draws me to the sport. In racing, it seems like an old fashioned bank roll contest. Whoever spends the most, wins the most (ask Ferrari about this rule).

Ah, but I contend that it is not only racing that is a "bank roll contest" at times - I believe all sports are subject to this problem. Look at baseball with the Yankees a few years ago - look at basketball, with the Lakers and Shaq + Kobe - look at the Cowboys or the 49ers during their respective dynasties - all laden with superstars and all grossly over the salary caps. Same with the Blue Jays of the early 90's when they won their 2 world series. I could go on and on.
I realize that perhaps a sport like football has more of the "man vs man" aspect inherent in it moreso than racing, as an example, yet there still exists the same attributes in both sports. Yes, Ferrari spends a LOT of money on both their cars and their drivers, however I defy you to say that Michael Schumacher, like him or not, isn't one of the most gifted drivers out there right now, with or without Ferrari technology behind him. (Personally I find him arrogant...)
