just trying this out, so far this program looks great.

the only program i miss from my windows days was newsbin pro. i have been using pan under X11, but that is very un-mac like.

Yep.
Some features I've found nice and helpful:

Apple + K (Go to group), their predifined groups aren't nearly what's out there.

They gather files for you! Remember on other news readers they had 300/400 301/400 302/400 - NOT ANYMORE!

On initial setup of the nntp server, they check and verify the address is an actual server before you can enter authentication! That's a kickass feature, and saves time, tons of it.

Seperate Download Manager (Window> Downloads) is very nice, compared to some programs with "all in one interface" that really sucks.

cool app. I want to try it out, can anyone recommend free news servers? My ISP news servers suck.

I just signed up with http://www.teranews.com/ for free (and by free, they mean $4). My IPS quit carrying newsgroups, and everybody charges monthly fees.

edit:
rats!

Secret link to check the statistics for the RFN network. Only you are special enough to see this link. Don't hand it out to others! Thissecret link really is a secret. No one knows! Mad CGI scripting makes it only seen by YOU and not anyone else.

Suuuure

It is 24.95, but it doesn't appear to be required.

It's shareware. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume it starts limiting sessions/features after a set number of days if you don't pay. Transmit from the same company begins limiting the amount of time you can be connected to a server, 15 days after first use. Of course deleting the plist works but $25 isn't much to pay for such a great program.
